A learning myth many parents believe:
“If my child can say big words, they are a strong reader.”
Let’s talk about it.
Some children memorise words.
Some children guess from pictures.
Some children recognise familiar stories.
But real reading means a child can:
• Look at a new word
• Break it into sounds
• Blend it confidently
• Read it without guessing
Reading is a skill that must be built step by step.
Now here’s my question
Have you ever noticed your child guessing a word instead of sounding it out?
Comment “GUESSING” if you’ve seen this.
Comment “SOUNDING OUT” if your child takes time to break words properly.
Or comment “NOT SURE” and I’ll explain what to look out for.

I just realised something.

I have been very quiet on this page.

Not because teaching stopped.
Not because the children stopped learning.

If anything, the opposite happened.

The past months have been full of teaching, guiding, correcting, celebrating small wins, and helping children grow in confidence.

So today, I am showing up here again.
