Smait Maven was at the Gender and Inclusion Summit, GS26, in Abuja last week.
Two days under the theme From Agenda to Action, Making Innovations Count for the Last Mile with sessions on economic inclusion, health systems, governance, technology, agriculture and climate.
As we build responsible AI adoption, Inclusion is not separate, it is a large part of what responsible actually means. A system is not fair by default. Who it was trained on, who it was tested with, and who gets left out of the data all decide who it works for. GS26’s questions about reaching the last mile are the same questions we ask before any organisation we work with deploys an AI system.
Thank you to the Policy Innovation Centre (PIC) and Dr. Osasuyi Dirisu PhD for convening a summit that took that standard seriously across every sector represented.
We left with more than we came with.
