A NEW CHAPTER OF LEADERSHIP AT NOUN UYO STUDY CENTRE
Following the expiration of the two-year tenure of Centre Directors nationwide, in line with the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Tenure Policy, Dr. Edwin Okpa Bassey has graciously bowed out as the Centre Director of NOUN Uyo Study Centre and formally handed over the leadership of the Centre to Dr. Mrs. Uduak Irene Aletan, who assumes office as Centre Director with effect from today, 21st August 2026.
Reflecting on his tenure, Dr. Edwin Okpa Bassey expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the University Management for giving him the privilege and opportunity to serve. He also extended his sincere appreciation to the dedicated staff and wonderful students of NOUN Uyo Study Centre for their loyalty, cooperation, encouragement and unwavering support throughout his tenure.
He acknowledged that the successes recorded during his administration were not achieved by him alone, but through the collective efforts, sacrifices and commitment of the entire Centre community. He expressed deep appreciation for the trust and confidence reposed in him, as well as the memorable experiences shared during his time in office.
As he handed over the baton of leadership, Dr. Edwin Okpa Bassey appealed to all staff members and students to extend to his successor the same spirit of cooperation, understanding and support that he enjoyed during his tenure. He urged everyone to remain united and committed to the continued growth, development and success of the Centre and the University at large.
He warmly welcomed Dr. Mrs.Uduak Irene Aletan to the position and wished her a fruitful, rewarding and impactful tenure as Centre Director.
In her inaugural remarks, Dr. Mrs. Uduak Irene Aletan charged all staff members to remain committed to the diligent discharge of their duties, guided by the fear of God, professionalism and integrity, in order to uphold the confidence and trust reposed in them by the University Management.
She also encouraged students to remain focused and committed to their studies, assuring them of her commitment to providing purposeful leadership and fostering an environment that will support their academic progress and overall success. She urged the entire Centre community to look forward to the best under her administration.
As one chapter closes and another begins, the NOUN Uyo Study Centre celebrates the remarkable contributions and dedicated service of Dr. Edwin Okpa Bassey and looks forward with renewed hope, unity and commitment to a brighter future under the leadership of Dr. Mrs. Uduak Irene Aletan.
Congratulations to the new Centre Director, Dr. Mrs. Uduak Irene Aletan, and heartfelt appreciation to the outgoing Centre Director, Dr. Edwin Okpa Bassey , for his service, leadership and dedication.
The baton has been passed; the vision and mission of the University continue.
