The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has resolved the technical issues that temporarily affected its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

The CAPS portal is now accessible to candidates and other users following the restoration of the platform.

JAMB had earlier explained that the disruption was linked to technical challenges with its hosting arrangements and assured candidates and institutions that efforts were ongoing to restore access.

With the platform now available, candidates can log in to check their admission status, monitor admission offers and access other available admission-related services on CAPS.

Candidates are advised to continue checking their CAPS profiles regularly as the 2026/2027 admission process progresses.

Candidates facing difficulties with O’level uploads, JAMB result printing, admission processing, JAMB regularisation, admission-letter printing, CAPS access, Post-UTME registration, correction of personal details, or mismatched candidate information can also reach us for assistance.

Prospective candidates preparing for the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are expected to begin JAMB profile creation from Thursday, December 10, 2026.

Candidates are advised to start preparing ahead of the exercise by checking their National Identification Number (NIN) details and ensuring that their name, date of birth and other personal information are correct.

It is important that the details on your NIN match the information you intend to use for JAMB registration. Any discrepancy should be corrected early to avoid complications during profile creation and subsequent UTME registration.

JAMB requires candidates to create a profile code using their NIN, which is needed for subsequent registration transactions.

Candidates should also ensure they have access to a unique phone number and valid email address for the registration process.

We recognise the importance of CAPS, particularly at this critical stage of the admission exercise, and regret any inconvenience this disruption may cause.

Candidates and institutions are advised to remain. Please be assured that we are fully committed to resolving the issue, and further updates will be provided as they become available.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

𝗝𝗔𝗠𝗕 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗦 𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗦 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗪𝗦 "𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗔𝗗𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗗" — 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗧𝗢 𝗙𝗜𝗫 𝗜𝗧

If you've checked your admission status on the JAMB CAPS (Central Admissions Processing System) portal and it reads "𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱" even though you were expecting good news, you're not alone. JAMB has outlined the most common reasons candidates see this status, along with clear steps to resolve each issue. Here's a full breakdown.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗦 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝘀 "𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱"

𝟭. 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮
If the name, date of birth, gender, or other personal details on your JAMB profile don't match your O'Level result, NIN, or the details your institution has on file, the system flags a mismatch and blocks admission processing until it's resolved.

𝟮. 𝗪𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗢'𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹/𝗔𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢'𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁
Institutions cannot process admission without a valid, uploaded O'Level result showing the required credits in relevant subjects. If your result wasn't uploaded, was uploaded incorrectly, or doesn't meet the minimum requirement (typically five credits including English and Mathematics, depending on the course), CAPS will not confirm admission.

𝟯. 𝗪𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀
Every course has a specific set of required UTME/O'Level subject combinations. If the subjects you registered or your O'Level subjects don't align with what your chosen course demands, the system treats you as ineligible for that programme.

𝟰. 𝗟𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮/𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝘂𝘁-𝗢𝗳𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸
Even if you meet JAMB's general minimum score, individual departments and institutions set their own cut-off marks, and some slots are reserved based on catchment area or state quotas. Scoring below your specific department's threshold — even with a solid overall UTME score — results in "Not Admitted."

𝟱. 𝗡𝗜𝗡 𝗘𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿𝘀
Your National Identification Number (NIN) must match the biometric and biodata details tied to your JAMB profile. Incorrect NIN details, an unlinked NIN, or inconsistencies between your NIN and JAMB records can stop the admission process entirely.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀

𝟭. 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮
Log in to your JAMB profile via the eFacility portal and review your name, date of birth, and other personal details. Where a correction is needed, use the appropriate JAMB correction service (note that name and date-of-birth corrections often require an affidavit and a small processing fee).

𝟮. 𝗨𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗢'𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁
Ensure your O'Level result is correctly uploaded through the CAPS portal or your examination body's result-checker (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB). Double-check that all required credits are visible and correctly linked to your JAMB profile.

𝟯. 𝗘𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝘂𝘁-𝗢𝗳𝗳
Check your chosen institution's specific departmental cut-off mark — not just JAMB's general minimum — before or after applying. If you don't meet it, consider using the Change of Institution/Course service to switch to a programme or school where your score qualifies.

𝟰. 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗡𝗜𝗡
Visit an NIMC office or use the NIMC self-service portal to correct any discrepancies in your NIN details, then ensure it's properly linked and synced with your JAMB profile through the eFacility portal.

Congratulations on your admission. Before the celebration takes over, there are critical steps every newly admitted candidate must complete on time. Many students lose their admission simply because they missed a deadline or skipped a required step. Here is your complete checklist.

𝟏. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬
Review your name, institution, course of study, and admission status carefully. Report any discrepancy immediately through the correct official channel.

𝟐. 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐉𝐀𝐌𝐁 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐒 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞
Log into your JAMB CAPS account to confirm your admission status. If an offer is showing, follow the official acceptance process without delay. Never share your login details with anyone claiming to help you do this.

𝟑. 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐥
Log into your institution's official portal for instructions on acceptance fee payment, screening, registration, school fees, documentation, and resumption dates.

𝟒. 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞
Most institutions set a strict window for completing acceptance procedures. Confirm the exact deadline and payment process from your school's official announcement, and do not wait until the last day.

𝟓. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
Begin gathering the documents your school will likely request:
- JAMB documents
- O'Level result
- Birth certificate or declaration of age
- Passport photographs
- Admission letter
- Any other school-specific requirements

𝟔. 𝐁𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬

𝟕. 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭
Keep copies of your admission notification, JAMB admission letter, payment receipts, screening documents, and registration records. A dedicated folder on your phone or cloud storage is a simple way to stay organized.

𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑: Getting admission is the beginning of your university journey, not the end. Don't let excitement lead to carelessness.

Save this post and share it with someone who just got admitted.

Newly admitted students, where did you get in? Drop your school and course in the comments. Still waiting? Let us know that too.
