CLIMATE JUSTICE
A movement that i have relentlessly identified with at every level of my professional journey. It is encouraging that the commonwealth foundation amongst other sensitive and remarkable organisations have recognised and are consciously making impacting by contributing their quota to the eradication of Green house Gas emissions and meeting the net-zero target as has been pledged by many nations witchin and beyound the commonwealth jurisdiction.
In the just concluded United Nations general assembly marking its 80th anniversary, May nations reaffirmed their allegiance to ensuring environmental principles are upheld in other to ensure the sustainability of the environment. It therefore means that nations have indeed seen the unadevertent repercussions that lies ahead in the absence of movements such as this; sought to be organized.
It is therefore imperative to bring together an international panel of civil society leaders, legal experts and decision makers to digest the landmark advisory opinion delivered or rendered by the International Court of Justice acting in its advisory capacity, on climate change.International Court of Justice (ICJ)
The lack of implementation and enforcement of these principles and a conscious enforcement of same by individual nations, especially within the commonwealth will act as regression of the commitments that is owed by states.
