There is a video clip that is in circulated all over social media, about how a sitting Commissioner in Ebonyi State abused, assaulted, battered and almost killed his own wife. I must once again thank Berekete family human right radio for publicizing and bring this matter to light.

We want to also call on the good governor of Ebonyi State Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to please weigh into this matter, investigate and ensure that he gets to the root of it. And to also ensure that appropriate sanctions is handed down.

In the same vain, I most also invite all agencies both governmental and non governmental whose interest boarders on human rights, protecting women and girl children, gender based violence etc to also look into the matter to ensure that this matter is not swept under the carpet.

Anybody can be a victim of Gender Based Violence; Women, Men, Boys and girls can all be victims of gender based violence.

Though women and girls are MORE vulnerable to gender based violence, it does not take away the fact that men and boys also suffer gender based violence.

Another set of people that are also more vulnerable to gender based violence are the poor people in our society, uneducated, people living with disability and the aged.

Gender Based Based Violence can be in any form, it is not only restricted to physical assault or abuse. It can emotional, financial, psychological, discriminations based on ones gender, cultural based gender discrimination etc.

You and I must do our path to ensure that we live in a free and fair society. Learn to speak up against gender based violence anywhere you see it. Take action by reporting to relevant authorities such as the Police, Ministry of women affairs, Ministry of Justice, or any of the Agencies or organizations that handle gender based cases. For instance Gender Based Taskforce, Berekete family human right radio, Human Right Commission etc

We must appreciate the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Ebonyi State, for his deliberate and intentional efforts in fighting Gender Based Violence in Ebonyi State. Just few months in office Dr. Odoh Ben has established the Sexual Assault and Gender Based Violence Response Department.

In considering how sensitive, important and delicate the issue of gender based violence is, the Honourable Attorney General careful appointed a very seasoned gender based activist in the person of Barr. Faithvin Nwancho to be the Head of Department.

We appreciate the effort of the Ebonyi State Government lead by His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ogbonnia Francis Nwifuru in ensuring that all persons within the boarders of the state is safe from all sorts of gender based violence.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) wants to sanction one for "conduct unbecoming of a lawyer" but same NBA paid another practitioner of same conduct to perform in it's annual general conference.

NBA LEADERSHIP BROUHAHA: There is Something Fundamentally Wrong with Our System and Our Values.

At the inconclusive Annual General Meeting AGM of the Nigerian Bar Association held in MKO Abiola Stadium.

The NBA 2nd Vice President Chukwuemeka Clement in his report to AGM, accused the NBA President, YC Maikyau SAN, of making his office redundant and inactive by assigning his traditional roles to Personal Assistants appointed by the President. He asked the AGM to rescue him from the oppressive hands of the President.

The NBA 3rd Vice President, Mandy Asagba in her report accused the NBA President of refusing to enable her office and taking decisions which the whole executive is required to take collectively by law alone.

The NBA 3rd Vice President told the AGM that the Annual General Conference AGC and the AGM was planned, organised and executed by the President alone without the input of other Executive Committee Members.

She also prayed the AGM to Rescue her from the President.

The National Treasurer of the NBA Caroline Anze-Bishop shocked the AGM when she revealed that the Financial Report she was asked to adopt at the AGM was not prepared by her. She had no input as some other persons enabled by the President have taken over her duties.

This Means that the AGM is inconclusive as the Financial Status of the Association must be revealed and discussed and approved by the AGM which has the overriding power of the Association.

The NBA President in his response to these accusations of abuse of office didn't deny the accusations but only presented a justification for his actions. According to the NBA President, the Officers are fighting him because he refused to approve their request for money they incurred while serving the association and other monies they demanded. The NBA President preached that National Officers must use their personal money to serve the NBA and not expect refunds and incentives for doing a selfless service.

I find this argument insane
