Oketa, House of Representatives Aspirant, Unveils a New Nigeria Transformation Blueprint in Celebration of Democracy Day 2026
Honourable Ijigban Daniel Oketa, a House of Representatives aspirant for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency of the FCT under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC, has prayed for the continued blessing of the memories and legacies of all Nigeria’s past and present heroes of democracy.
Earlier in January 2026, Oketa formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat with an Eight-Point National Legislative Policy Agenda and a ₦10 billion Constituency Development Plan. Among the key pillars of his proposed legislative agenda are the establishment of a National Youth Development Fund, Pilgrimage Reform, a National Cohesion and Mindset Renewal Act, the repeal and amendment of the JAMB Act, Federal Road Safety and driver’s licence reforms, as well as Garden Agricultural reforms and compulsory nationwide Electronic Voting System.
According to him, these policies have the potential to place Nigeria on a trajectory of transformational progress that can endure for generations without being derailed.
Oketa, a Development Economist, Senior Policy Expert, and Fellow of the Royal Economic Society, London, with over 20 years of strategic experience spanning leadership, enterprise, and faith, believes that Nigeria must intentionally build the nation of its dreams by electing people with the right vision, mindset, and strategy into the National Assembly and other positions of authority.
In his words:
“The Nigeria of our dreams will not emerge through wishes, slogans, trending conversations, or mere belief. It will be built through the right vision, transformed mindsets, disciplined leadership, and deliberate strategy.”
He maintained that Nigeria’s greatest challenge is not a lack of resources, institutions, or manpower.
Rather, he argued, it is the absence of enduring systems capable of aligning our people, transforming our mindsets, and converting our vast potential into sustainable national prosperity.
According to him, the New Nigeria Transformation Blueprint represents a strategic response to this gap.
He further stated that without people possessing the right vision, mindset, and strategic capacity in positions of leadership, Nigeria risks merely recycling individuals in public office while experiencing retrogression instead of progressive and transformative change.
Oketa noted that the New Nigeria Transformation Blueprint seeks to answer four critical questions shaping Nigeria’s future:
1. How do we unite our people across ethnicities, languages, professions, beliefs, and diverse visions for genuine national development?
2. How do we cultivate ethical citizens and leaders capable of making decisions and implementing policies that heal, empower, and advance the common good rather than serve personal greed and narrow interests?
3. How do we build systems that promote sustainable impact, youth empowerment, job creation, wealth creation, and national advancement instead of a culture driven by consumption and fleeting trends?
4. How do we strategically position Nigeria to become a one-trillion-dollar economy and beyond by 2030?
“The Blueprint responds to these questions through practical, scalable, and transformative frameworks,” he added.
Speaking with Citizen Voices Nigeria, Oketa reiterated his willingness to abide by the decision of the party. However, he expressed confidence that, given his strategic frameworks, policy depth, and experience, he remains the most prepared and best-positioned aspirant to represent Nigeria’s most strategic constituency and the party effectively in the Green Chamber in 2027.
He urged the leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress to support aspirants who are adequately prepared, possess the right experience and strategies, and can effectively represent the innovative initiatives and core pillars of the party, rather than allowing the process to be driven by “who-knows-who” politics or individuals motivated primarily by personal ambition.
