So, I have to share this with you in the season that we are in - “Back to School”

No two people share the same identity—not even children raised under the same roof, dressed alike, or given the same opportunities. As they grow, each child discovers and expresses their own unique personality, gifts, and path.

Even mothers will tell you: no two pregnancy journeys are ever the same, and not even twins are identical in every way.
That’s why, as parents, guardians, and teachers, we must avoid comparisons in our homes and schools. Comparison stifles; encouragement empowers.
Let’s celebrate uniqueness !

As a new school year unfolds—with its competitions, assessments, and activities—let’s shift our focus.

Parents, your role is to be supportive. Teachers, your calling is to guide each learner according to their needs, encouraging them where they struggle and celebrating them where they shine.

Remember- if a child doesn’t excel in debates or quizzes, they may flourish in sports, drama, music, tech or even in behind-the-scenes roles that are just as important.

Every child is unique and carries a gift worth celebrating.

Why Education may seem Delusional to the Next Generation .

We stand before classrooms preaching good morals… yet outside, society claps for bad behaviour.
How do I explain to a child that a person who has done wrong — who hasn’t even faced the full consequences — is now called Ambassador?

An ambassadorial appointment is given to someone who has yet to fully face the repercussions of their misconduct. The process of discipline is cut short — softened by influence, connections, or the familiar “na we dey run things” mindset.

When disciplinary processes are shortened or weakened due to influence or connections, it raises important questions:
✍🏽Has the individual completed the necessary process of restitution?
✍🏽Have they been evaluated to ensure emotional and mental readiness for a public role?

Yes, apology matters.
Yes, forgiveness is noble.
But accountability is essential.
Forgiveness does not erase the need for discipline, and public honour should follow genuine transformation, not precede it.

What is the Nigerian child being taught today?

They sit in Civic Education classes, learning about justice and integrity, but in real life they see integrity on sale, and morality traded for convenience.

✍🏽What lesson will they carry into the future?

Worse still , the next generation begins to anchor their beliefs on the basis that your wrongs will vanish, as long as you are highly connected and that you can wear your disgrace as a badge of honour.

If we want education to keep its meaning, society must match its rewards with true repentance, completed consequences, and a proven change in character.

✍🏽Only then will our children believe that what we teach is worth living by.
