Dear Students,

It is essential to clearly understand the distinction between the JAMB Portal and JAMB CAPS, as this knowledge can significantly impact your admission journey. It is entirely possible to have access to the JAMB Portal without being able to access JAMB CAPS, and knowing why this occurs will help you navigate the process with confidence.

The JAMB Portal, also known as the JAMB E-Facility platform, serves as the general and comprehensive website for all activities related to UTME and Direct Entry registration. This is where you create your profile, register for examinations, update your personal information, check your examination results, print your admission letter, and carry out other pre-admission activities such as Change of Institution or Course. Think of the JAMB Portal as the main house that contains all the necessary rooms for your JAMB-related transactions.

On the other hand, JAMB CAPS, which stands for Central Admissions Processing System, is a specialized module within the JAMB Portal. Its sole purpose is to manage the admission process. This is where you can view whether your chosen institution has offered you admission, monitor your admission status such as "Recommended," "Admission in Progress," or "Not Admitted," and most importantly, accept or reject any admission offer extended to you. CAPS also allows you to verify the status of your O'level results as uploaded and recognized by JAMB. In our earlier analogy, if the JAMB Portal is the house, then CAPS is a dedicated room inside that house focused exclusively on admission matters.

Regarding accessibility, you reach CAPS through the JAMB Portal. After logging into your JAMB E-Facility account, you will find an option labeled "Access My CAPS" under the "Check Admission Status" section. Clicking this takes you into the CAPS environment where admission-specific actions are performed.

You should use the general JAMB Portal when you need to register for JAMB, update your profile, pay for services, check your UTME result, or initiate a change of institution or course. Conversely, you should use CAPS when you are expecting an admission decision, when you wish to track the progress of your admission, or when you need to formally accept or decline an admission offer.

Understanding this distinction prevents confusion and ensures you take the right steps at the right time. Many students mistakenly believe that checking their JAMB result on the main portal is sufficient to confirm admission, but admission is only officially processed and finalized through CAPS. Therefore, even if you can log into the JAMB Portal, you must specifically access CAPS to manage your admission status.

In summary, the JAMB Portal is your all-encompassing platform for examination and profile management, while JAMB CAPS is the specialized system within it dedicated to the admission process. Both are important, but they serve different purposes at different stages of your academic journey.

I encourage you to bookmark this information, share it with your peers, and refer to it as you progress through your admission process. Should you have further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out for clarification.

Wishing you success in your academic pursuits.

LET'S SEE WHO'S GETTING ADMISSION THIS YEAR

ACCEPT ☑️ OR REJECT ❌

Photos from Jamb Mentor's post 30/04/2026

As we move deeper into the 2026 admission season, I have been reflecting on the many brilliant students I have spoken with recently. Some are confident about their UTME results. Others are uncertain, asking thoughtful questions like: Will my score be enough for my chosen course? Should I consider a change of institution? What exactly should I expect during post-UTME screening? When will admission lists begin to release?

These are not just questions. They are signs that you are thinking ahead, and that is commendable. Admission in Nigeria today requires more than a good score. It requires attention to detail, timely action, and access to reliable guidance. Unfortunately, many students with strong potentials miss opportunities not because of their results, but because of avoidable oversights: missed deadlines, unclear instructions, or well-meaning but inaccurate advice from unverified sources.

My commitment as your mentor has always been to help serious students navigate this process with clarity and confidence. That is why I have opened a dedicated WhatsApp community for students and parents who want structured, step-by-step support throughout this admission cycle. Inside, you will receive timely updates on post-UTME schedules, practical guidance on course and institution selection, clear explanations of cut-off mark dynamics, strategies for change of institution or course, and direct answers to your specific questions. You will also access curated resources designed to help you avoid common pitfalls and make informed decisions at every stage.

I want to be transparent from the outset: this mentorship community is not a free platform. It is a focused, value-driven program with a modest investment for the full 30-day cycle. This ensures that every participant is committed, that the quality of engagement remains high, and that I can dedicate the time and attention each student deserves. Basic admission tips and general updates will continue to be shared freely on this page for everyone. The paid community is for those who want personalized, structured, and ongoing guidance through every critical step.

This is not a broadcast group filled with generic messages. It is a focused space for students who are ready to take ownership of their admission journey with the support of verified guidance. Participation is entirely voluntary, and there is no pressure to commit beyond what feels right for you. If you would like to join this community, simply send me a private message or comment with the word GUIDANCE and I will share the access details, including program outline, with you.

Whatever your next step, please remember this: your admission outcome is not determined by your UTME score alone. It is shaped by the decisions you make between now and when the lists are released. Choose to move with clarity, not confusion. Choose to act with information, not assumption. And choose to surround yourself with guidance that respects your potential and your peace of mind.

If this message resonates with you, I welcome you to reach out. If you know a student or parent who would benefit from this support, please feel free to share this post. My goal remains the same: to see every serious student secure admission through preparation, not luck.

Disclaimer: This mentorship provides educational guidance and strategic support based on current JAMB policies. It is not affiliated with JAMB or any university. Final admission decisions rest solely with the relevant institutions and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.

Wishing you focus, confidence, and success in this admission season

My dear JAMB aspirants, I want to speak directly to your hearts today. Now that the 2026 UTME results are out, I see some of you rejoicing, and I see others feeling weighed down. To every single one of you, hear me clearly: your score, whether high or low, is not the final word on your admission journey. A high score does not automatically secure your place, and a lower score does not close the door. What matters now is what you do next. As your mentor, I urge you to act with purpose. Immediately begin to track the official channels of your chosen institutions for post-UTME screening details. Do not wait to be told twice. Gather your documents now: your JAMB result slip, your O level certificates, and your valid identification. Prepare your mind and your materials for the next screening. Study past questions, revisit your subjects, and approach this phase with discipline. Please, I warn you, stay away from those who promise admission for a fee. Trust only official portals and verified information. This process demands your focus, your resilience, and your faith. I believe in your capacity to navigate this stage successfully. Keep your eyes on the goal, take one step at a time, and remember that I am here to guide you. Share your concerns below, and let us move forward together with wisdom and determination.

SCHOOL CALENDAR EVERY JAMB ASPIRANT SHOULD TAKE NOTE OF

Dear students and aspiring scholars, congratulations on completing your JAMB examination. The journey to securing your university admission does not end at the exam hall. In fact, the real test begins now, and having a clear roadmap will save you from unnecessary stress, missed deadlines, and costly mistakes. As an educational mentor who has guided thousands of candidates through this process, I want to share the standard academic calendar that governs admissions in Nigeria. Keep this timeline close and plan accordingly.

• April to May marks the official JAMB examination period and the immediate window for results checking. Once your results are out, print your result slip, verify your scores, and begin researching institutional requirements.

• June to August is when Post-UTME and screening forms begin for many schools across the country. Institutions will start opening their portals, and you must register promptly to secure your slot.

• August to October is when the first batch admission lists start in many schools. This is the merit list phase, and candidates who performed exceptionally well in both JAMB and Post-UTME will see their names published.

• October to December brings more admission lists and supplementary lists. If you were not on the first list, do not lose hope. Many institutions release additional lists to fill available spaces, and this period requires vigilance.

To navigate this period successfully, you must stay consistently updated. Follow only official institutional websites and verified communication channels. Avoid misinformation and ignore anyone promising guaranteed admission for a fee. Prepare all your documents early, including your O-level results, JAMB printout, birth certificate, passport photographs, and local government identification. Choose your schools and courses wisely, ensuring they align with your score and career goals. Most importantly, be patient during admission season. The process is structured, and rushing or panicking often leads to avoidable errors.

Keep this calendar in mind, share it with your study group, and approach each phase with focus and discipline.

Tell me in the comments what stage of the admission process you are currently in. Are you waiting for results, preparing for Post-UTME, Drop your update below, and make sure to follow this page for reliable admission updates, screening tips, and timely guidance throughout the academic year.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE YOUR SCHOOL AND COURSE, READ THIS CAREFULLY

If you have seen your JAMB result already and you are about to choose your institution and course, slow down for a moment.

Admission is important, yes. But the choice you make now will affect the next 4–6 years of your life. So do not rush it.

Let me break it down for you in a simple way:

1. Check Your Financial Strength

Do not only look at school fees.

Ask yourself: Can I afford the full cost from start to finish?

Think about:

Accommodation

Feeding

Textbooks

Departmental fees

Project and practical costs

Some schools look affordable at first, but the hidden costs are much higher. Choose what you and your family can sustain comfortably.

2. Consider Location

Distance matters.

A school far from home may sound exciting, but transport, rent, and city expenses can become stressful.

Sometimes, a closer school gives you better support and peace of mind.

3. Learn a Skill Before or During School

Do not depend only on your parents or school allowance.

Try to have a simple skill like:

Graphic design

Tailoring

Content creation

Data entry

Even a small income can reduce pressure and help you stand on your own.

4. Do Not Chase School Name Only

A popular school name is not everything.

Look for:

Good lecturers

Functional facilities

Strong academic structure

Also, make sure the school is known for your course. Some schools are stronger in certain fields than others.

5. Be Realistic About Your Score

This is where many students make mistakes.

Check:

Previous cut-off marks

Competition level

Subject combination

If your score does not match a highly competitive course, adjust wisely. It is better to gain admission and move forward than to wait endlessly.

6. Confirm Accreditation

Very important.

Make sure:

Your school is approved

Your course is fully accredited

If a course is not accredited, your certificate may not be valid for NYSC or future opportunities.

7. Check School Stability

Some schools delay students because of:

Frequent strikes

Poor academic calendar

This can turn a 4-year course into 6 or 7 years.

Choose a school that is stable and organized.

8. Choose a Course That Fits You

Be honest with yourself.

Do not pick a course because of pressure or trend.

Ask:

Do I understand it?

Am I interested in it?

Can I grow in this field?

You will struggle in a course you do not like.

Admission is a starting line, not the destination. The decisions you make today will echo long after you receive your certificate. Take your time, ask practical questions, and plan with your future self in mind. I have guided enough students to know that rushing into programmes that drain finances, disrupt academic momentum, or mismatch your strengths only delays success. Choose deliberately, prepare thoroughly, and remember that a degree is only as valuable as the foundation it is built upon

Admission is just the beginning.

The decision you make now can either make your journey smooth… or very stressful.

Take your time. Think well. Ask questions.

Do not follow the crowd. Choose what truly works for you.

Dear students and parents, welcome to this important discussion regarding admission into the University of Lagos for the current academic cycle. As an educational consultant and mentor who has guided countless candidates through the Nigerian tertiary admission process, I want to provide you with a comprehensive and realistic breakdown of what it takes to secure admission into this institution

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is widely recognized as one of the most competitive federal universities in Nigeria. Its reputation for academic excellence, vibrant campus life, and strong alumni network attracts applicants from every region of the country. Because of this high demand, the admission process is rigorous, transparent, and strictly merit-based.

UNDERSTANDING THE JAMB CUT-OFF MARK

Let us begin with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board cut-off mark.

UNILAG typically sets its general JAMB cut-off mark at 200 and above. However, it is crucial to understand that this figure is merely a baseline eligibility threshold. Scoring exactly 200 does not guarantee admission, especially for high-demand programmes. The university operates on a competitive scoring system where candidates with significantly higher JAMB scores are given priority during the initial screening stages.

HOW UNILAG ADMISSION WORKS

Admission into UNILAG is not determined by a single examination score. The university employs a composite scoring system that carefully weighs several factors. Your final admission score is calculated by combining your JAMB performance, your Post-UTME screening result, and your O level examination grades. The university also considers the competitiveness of your chosen course. This means that two candidates with identical JAMB scores may receive different outcomes based on their Post-UTME performance, O level distinctions, and the number of applicants competing for their preferred department. The process is designed to identify the most well-rounded and academically prepared candidates.

DEPARTMENTAL COMPETITIVENESS AND COURSE CATEGORIES

Understanding departmental competitiveness is essential for making informed course choices. UNILAG programmes can be broadly categorized into three levels of competition.

• Highly competitive courses include Medicine and Surgery, Law, Nursing Science, various Engineering disciplines, and Mass Communication. These programmes consistently receive thousands of applications for a limited number of available slots, and successful candidates typically require JAMB scores well above 250, coupled with exceptional Post-UTME performance.

• Moderately competitive courses include Accounting, Economics, Political Science, and Business Administration. These departments remain popular and require strong academic performance, though the cut-off thresholds are generally slightly lower than those of the highly competitive faculties.

• Less competitive courses span across several departments in the arts, social sciences, and some education programmes. These still require solid academic records, but they offer a more realistic pathway for candidates with moderate scores. Please note that departmental cut-off marks fluctuate every year depending on the overall performance of applicants and the number of available spaces.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND SUBJECT COMBINATIONS

Regarding admission requirements, all candidates must possess a minimum of five credit passes in relevant O level subjects, obtained in not more than two sittings. The specific subject combinations vary by department and must align exactly with the requirements published by UNILAG and JAMB. For instance, science-based courses require credits in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Further Mathematics, while arts and social science courses typically require English Language, Mathematics, and relevant subjects such as Economics, Government, or Literature in English. Candidates must also ensure that their JAMB subject combination matches their O level results and their chosen faculty requirements. Any mismatch will result in automatic disqualification during the screening phase.

Let me want share a practical advice that will significantly improve your chances of gaining admission.

Firstly, aim for the highest possible JAMB score. Do not settle for the minimum cut-off mark. Treat every practice question as a stepping stone toward excellence.

Secondly, begin preparing for the Post-UTME immediately after your JAMB examination. Do not wait for the screening announcement. Use past questions, study the recommended syllabus, and develop strong time management skills.

Thirdly, choose your courses realistically. Consider your academic strengths, past performance in WAEC or NECO, and the competitiveness of your preferred department. It is far better to gain admission to a slightly less competitive course that aligns with your career goals than to repeatedly face rejection for an oversubscribed programme.

In closing, I urge both students and parents to approach the admission process with discipline, patience, and strategic planning. Start early, stay informed, and maintain a consistent study routine. Understand that the university admission journey rewards those who prepare thoroughly and make informed decisions. Trust the process, support each other, and remember that academic excellence is built on daily commitment rather than last-minute efforts. I wish every candidate the very best as you navigate this important phase of your educational journey. Stay focused, remain resilient, and let hard work guide your path to success.

THE 5 MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU MUST DO TO SECURE ADMISSION THIS YEAR

If you sat for JAMB this year, pay close attention.

If you truly want admission this year, these steps are not optional. Each one matters.

1. Obtain your school’s admission form
Make sure you register for the Post-UTME or screening form of your chosen institution. Without this step, your admission process cannot move forward. Your JAMB result alone is not enough.

2. Upload your O’Level result on JAMB CAPS
If your O’Level result is not uploaded on CAPS, you will not be considered for admission. Ensure it is properly uploaded and reflects correctly when available.

3. Get your original JAMB result slip
Download and print your original result slip. It is often required during screening and admission processes.

4. Prepare all necessary documents
Each school has its own requirements. Keep all your documents ready, including identification, O’Level results, and other relevant credentials.

5. Complete your Post-UTME registration properly
Do not delay or make mistakes during registration. Follow instructions carefully and submit accurate details.

Admission is a process that requires attention and discipline. Handle each step with care, and you will place yourself in a strong position.

I wish you success in your admission journey. 📚

Happy Sunday, dear students. Just a quick reminder, your season of celebration is coming soon. Stay focused, keep pushing, and do not give up now. The stress will pass, and the joy you have been praying for will arrive. Keep believing and keep working hard. Your good news is closer than you think.

To my Direct Entry candidates, I understand the anxiety some of you might be feeling, especially with the belief that today marked the end of the registration window. Let's take a moment to clarify things.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has, with what feels like a thoughtful consideration, decided to push back the registration deadline for the 2026 Direct Entry admissions into Nigerian Universities. It's a reprieve, really.

So, the new, crucial date to aim for is now Thursday, May 8th, 2026.

For those who are yet to register, or perhaps started the process but haven't quite completed it, there's a real emphasis on getting this done before the new deadline. It's about taking that proactive step now, rather than facing regret later.

You'll need to make a trip to a JAMB office to finalise your registration process.

It’s important to internalise this: this is being presented as the absolute final extension. There's a strong indication that after May 8th, 2026, the door will indeed close for this particular cycle.
