The Organizer of SSCCORC
First and foremost, let me inform you that Speech Science Corporate, Abuja is the organizer of the Speech Science Corporate Children Online Reading Competition (SSCCORC) 2026. This year marks the sixth edition of the competition, which was first held in 2021. Speech Science Corporate is duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission under RC 3081403.
The Online Mode of the Competition
The competition is conducted online, a mode initially adopted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevented children from attending schools as a safety measure. Over time, the growth of the Internet made online education feasible, even while children are at home.
This development prompted the organization of an online reading competition, which brings together the child, family, school, and society to pursue a shared educational goal. Contestants submit their video presentations for assessment by the panel of judges.
The Structure of SSCCORC
Over the years, SSCCORC has targeted children in Year One from different schools across Nigeria. Schools select their best readers who demonstrate excellent English speech skills, including pronunciation, intonation, and sentence stress, supported by good appearance and environment. Traditionally, 32 children participated, with each school sending up to four contestants.
For SSCCORC 2026, each school is represented by only one contestant, with a total of 32 schools invited.
The 32 schools are grouped into eight groups of four schools each.
The group stage begins with pairings, giving each school three chances. Each win earns 3 points, and a draw earns 1 point.
Two contestants from each group qualify for the second round (16 schools).
After the second round, 8 schools advance to the quarter-finals.
4 schools reach the semi-finals, and 2 schools compete in the final to determine the winner.
Awards to Be Won
Various awards are presented at different stages:
Timeliness Award – for the first presentation submitted.
Social Media Award – after the first round of the group stage.
Brilliance Award – after the second round.
Books and Library Award – after the quarter-finals.
Leadership Award – after the semi-finals.
Excellence Award – after the final, awarded to the overall winner.
Cash Prizes and Certificates:
First, second, and third positions in the competition will receive cash prizes.
All contestants in SSCCORC 2026 will be presented with a certificate of participation.
Panel of Judges
Each year, the competition is overseen by a Chief Judge and a panel of judges:
The Chief Judge is an educational leader specializing in school and classroom management, responsible for setting the rules and regulations that all schools must follow.
The panel of judges consists of 2–3 English and Literature experts, including English diction teachers. They score all areas of assessment, calculate totals, decide winners, and determine award recipients. In unpredictable situations, the panel has full authority to decide appropriate actions.

The Philosophy of SSCCORC
The philosophy of SSCCORC is to teach reading and its key features to children as they grow academically. Reading, as an integral part of primary education, must be structured to promote effective presentations and professionalism.
Through this online reading competition, schools can generate content to promote their institutions, allowing the world to see and appreciate primary education, creating publicity that encourages enrollment.
SSCCORC also promotes online learning. In the digital age, with widespread Internet access, education must be accessible online, complementing physical schooling. Digital libraries, online instructors, educational resources, and assessment tools expand learning opportunities.
Finally, SSCCORC philosophy supports the discipline and structured growth of each child through systematic guidance, continuous assessment, and proper educational support.
