Suspected herdsmen kill farmer in Ekiti
The Nation Nigeria / Odunayo Ogunmola, Ado-Ekiti /

Suspected herdsmen struck again in Ekiti State yesterday, killing a farmer, Tunde Olayemi, in Ipao-Ekiti, Ikole Local Government.

Olayemi, who was a commercial motorcyclist, was killed by those referred to by the locals as “Bororo herdsmen” while returning from his farm.

The father of two who had gone to his farm to harvest cassava was said to have been accosted alongside a friend by the herdsmen who gave them a hot chase before catching up with the victim.

The killing has created panic in Ipao and other neighbouring communities, like Oke-Ako and Irele where the herdsmen had killed some residents.

The latest attack occurred after suspected herdsmen attacked the Orin Farm Settlement in Orin-Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government Area where they killed an expectant Tiv farmer.

Ikole Local Government Chairman Mrs Abiola Ajayi, in a telephone chat last night, said the police had visited the community and evacuated Olayemi’s body.

Mrs. Ajayi said: “The deceased was an okada man who has a farm in the settlement. He had gone to his farm to harvest some cassava. He was with one other person.

“They were heading back to town from the farm and had loaded the motorbike with cassava when they saw some Fulani herdsmen coming towards them.

“They were said to have been surprised at seeing the herdsmen, who brought out their gun. The two farmers ran for dear lives.

“The Bororos were said to have pursued the two men and eventually got Olayemi who was killed like a cow.

“We have reported the matter to the nearest police station and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) has since swung into action and sent two vehicles and they have gone to the scene of the murder to take the co**se and also commence investigation.”

The leader of the local hunters in Ipao, Mr. Adebayo Odeyemi, said they would fish out the killers in collaboration with security agencies.

Describing the attack as “unprovoked”, he vowed that the scenario won’t be allowed to repeat itself again.

Odeyemi said: “We haven’t attacked any herdsman but they have killed one now and right now we will ensure they are not allowed to do this again.

“We are valiant men not cowards and we will face them this time around. They have massacred one of us mercilessly and this won’t happen again.”

Police spokesman Alberto Adeyemi could not be reached last night.

Below are 20 life teaching lessons. I urge you to take just 3 minutes and ponder over them. They are life-changing statements:

1. Take risks in your life. If you win, you can lead; if you lose, you can guide.

2. People are not what they say but what they do; so judge them not from their words but from their actions.

3. When someone hurts you, don't feel bad because it's a law of nature that the tree that bears the sweetest fruits gets maximum number of stones.

4. Take whatever you can from your life because when life starts taking from you, it takes even your last breath.

5. In this world, people will always throw stones on the path of your success. It depends on what you make from them - a wall or a bridge.

6. Challenges make life interesting; overcoming them make life meaningful.

7. There is no joy in victory without running the risk of defeat.

8. A path without obstacles leads nowhere.

9. Past is a nice place to visit but certainly not a good place to stay.

10. You can't have a better tomorrow if you are thinking about yesterday all the time.

11. If what you did yesterday still looks big to you, then you haven't done much today.

12. If you don't build your dreams, someone else will hire you to build theirs.

13. If you don't climb the mountain; you can't view the plain.

14. Don't leave it idle - use your brain.

15. You are not paid for having brain, you are only rewarded for using it intelligently.

16. It is not what you don't have that limits you; it is what you have but don't know how to use.

17. What you fail to learn might teach you a lesson.

18. The difference between a corrupt person and an honest person is: The corrupt person has a price while the honest person has a value.

19. If you succeed in cheating someone, don't think that the person is a fool...... Realize that the person trusted you much more than you deserved.

20. Honesty is an expensive gift; don't expect it from cheap people.

Have a wonderful day

THE MANY WHY'S TO THINK ABOUT AS NIGERIAN YOUTH:

Arise o' Sleeping Nigerian Youth!!!
Allows was (37), Akintola was (36), Ahmodu Bello was (36), Effiong (36), Balewa (34), and Okotie Ebow(27), Enahoro (27), led the struggle for independence after the death of MaCaulay.
Only Zik was (42), at the time. In 1966, the first coup was led by Kaduna Nzeogwu (29), and countered by Murtala Mohammed (28), Theophilus Danjuma(28), Babangida(25), Nanven Garba (23), Sani Abacha (23), Shehu Musa Yaradua (23), and brought into power Gowon (32) Ojukwu(33) Obasanjo (29), Buhari (24).
Most of this military administrators who governed the states under the successive military regimes, most of whom are governors now, were under 30 years?
The brief democratic dispensation which interpreted the military interregnums also saw the House of Representatives in particular populated by majority of members under 30years as well as some senators. Under 30s were also not in short supply with appointments, we have examples of MT Mbu who became foreign affairs minister at (23) and Pat Utomi who became a presidential adviser at (27) and so on and so forth.
NOW:
* Why is it that this age bracket is today still sleeping in 3 seaters chair in their parent's homes?
* Why is it that this age bracket is today still collecting pocket money from their parents?
* Why is it that this age bracket i today still sagging their trousers?
* Why is it that this age bracket is today still searching for jobs?
* Why is it that this age bracket is today no longer qualified to even be leader of Youth wings of political parties?
* Why is it that this age bracket is today barred by law from even aspiring to certain political offices?
* Why is it that this age bracket is today incapacitated, unwilling, unable, and incapable of asking questions?

I am Comrade Ibrahim Hassan Owolabi (NYA PRESIDENT)
I am a citizen of Nigeria. I am encouraging Young Nigerians to take the Lead, Speak up, Ask questions and let's rebuild our Country in our own generation.

Thank you and God bless you all...
