HISTORY GOES ROUND — HISTORY IN PROGRESS

It was a memorable moment as the Head of the Department of International Relations Dr. Tanko Ahmed Fwc, fwc, visited Cosmopolitan University International Relations students currently undergoing their SIWES/IT attachment at the Technical Aid Corps (TAC), Abuja.

The visit was more than just a routine engagement, it was a beautiful connection between history, experience, and the next generation of International Relations professionals.

Coincidentally, Dr. Tanko Ahmed Fwc was the Admin/Research Secretary of the brainstorming session that produced the Policy Paper on the Technical Aid Corps (TAC).

The idea of TAC can be traced to the Lagos Plan of Action, which was attended by Dr. S.C. Chime, then Head of the Foreign Affairs Unit, Research Department, NIPSS, Kuru. Dr. Chime, together with distinguished course participants including Samaila Isa Funtua, Gp. Cpt. Okazibo, and others, contributed to developing the detailed structure that eventually shaped the initiative.

That was in March 1987.

Almost 40 years later, Dr. Tanko Ahmed returned to TAC not only as someone who witnessed part of its history, but as a mentor visiting students from Cosmopolitan University, Abuja, who are now gaining practical experience within the same institution.

As part of the engagement, Dr. Tanko Ahmed also visited some of the University's International Relations students on SIWES/IT attachment at INNO-VISION, NITDA, and NADD, taking time to interact with the students and encourage them as they gain valuable hands-on experience in their respective organisations.

The visits provided an opportunity to assess the students' progress, strengthen the University's relationship with their host organisations, and remind the students of the importance of professionalism, learning, and service.

From shaping ideas decades ago to mentoring the young minds who will shape Africa's future, the circle of history continues.
