Where did Barcelona get all this money from? At this point, it’s common knowledge that Barcelona are broke — yet somehow, that same Barcelona are going crazy in this transfer window.

They’ve already signed the best goalkeeper in La Liga last season for €25 million, along with Swedish talent Rooney Bargie. But their main target this summer has always been a left winger, and Nico Williams seems to be the likely option for around €60 million.

Surprisingly, reports now claim that Barcelona are planning to sign both Nico Williams and Marcus Rashford, who has publicly said he wants to play with Lamine Yamal at Barcelona.

Other reports suggest that Barça also want a new full-back — with Grimaldo or Vanderson as possible options.

If all of these deals go through, Barcelona’s total spending this summer could reach around €200 million.

So, how can Barcelona afford this if they’re supposed to be broke?

The answer is: Barcelona aren’t truly broke — they do have money, but La Liga hasn’t allowed them to spend freely. Up until now, they could only spend €1 for every €4 they earned because of Financial Fair Play rules.

But that’s about to change. Barcelona are now very close to meeting the requirements that would let them return to the standard 1:1 spending rule — meaning they’ll soon be able to spend every euro they earn.

So yeah, it looks like Barcelona’s “broke” days are almost over.
