Pray immediately after you wake up in the morning, because when you wake up, you are still in a state of body and mind known as Theta. It is a semi-spiritual state of existence. During Theta, your prayers are most potent. But once you reach for your phone, talk to anyone, or do any carnal activity, you immediately snap out of Theta. A lot of the anxiety many people feel during the day is a result of snapping out of the Theta state to the fully physically conscious state without a proper prayerful transition. If you notice, you have a vague idea of what you dreamt of during the night when you wake. But the minute you do any sensual activity, such as reaching for a phone or speaking to someone, even that vague remembrance immediately evaporates. That is you leaving the Theta state, going from a spiral subconscious to fully conscious and focused on the natural world.

Nweke, Benard Okechukwu from the Department of Mass Communication won the ZODML Poetry Prize for 2024 held at the Lagos State University yesterday 24th October, 2024.

In attendance were the Lagos State University Vice-Chancellor, the NLNG prize winner, and others.

*Another Unizik student in the Nursing Department, Enujioke Chinecherem Veronica came 5th in the contest, whereas 2 students from UNN came 2nd and 4th while Russel Ndoboke from Bayelsa State University came 3rd.

This prize had 1,445 poets submitted across the country.
35 States plus FCT submitted.
120 universities had their students in the prize.
10 poets got longlisted.
5 poets got shortlisted.
1 poet was declared the winner.

The Lagos State University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Bello expressed her profound gratitude to the UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor.
