Fun and Educating Activities for English Learning on the Assembly Ground.
PART 2
🎯 Activity: Spelling Bee Moments
Everyone loves a bit of competition — and a Spelling Bee brings excitement, confidence, and English learning together in one fun activity! 🎉
The assembly ground is a perfect place to hold short spelling rounds that get learners listening carefully, thinking fast, and pronouncing words correctly.
Here’s how to organize it 👇
1️⃣ Choose 3–5 learners from different classes to take part each morning (or once a week).
2️⃣ Call out a word clearly, one at a time.
The learner repeats the word, spells it aloud, and then says it again to confirm.
👉 Example:
Teacher: “Your word is beautiful.”
Learner: “Beautiful. B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. Beautiful.” ✅
3️⃣ Clap for every participant!
Whether they get it right or not, keep the environment encouraging and fun.
4️⃣ Give brief corrections or meanings when needed.
This helps all the other learners listening to also learn new words.
5️⃣ Add variety!
Some days can be themed:
✨ Fruits Day (apple, banana, pineapple)
✨ Action Words Day (run, jump, dance)
✨ Adjectives Day (brave, tall, honest)
💡 Tip:
Keep it short — 3 to 5 words each time is enough. You can award small prizes or class points weekly to keep motivation high! 🏆
The Spelling Bee Moments activity improves:
✅ Listening and concentration skills
✅ Spelling accuracy
✅ Pronunciation and confidence
It’s a fun and powerful way to build a school-wide love for words! 💪
