*Self worth* is the value you place on your self that makes people recognize your importance.
*Self Worth* is how much you believe you are worthy of
*Respect, success, love, happiness* regardless of your circumstances or achievements.
Let's apply it to school business.
My dear!
Massive school building/ structure will not give you *Self Worth*
Sophisticated facilities will not give you *Self worth*
Listen dear!
Listen very well!
The amount of Knowledge, expertise, skills, innovation and creativity you *possess* and *display* are what will give you self worth.
Sometimes, I intentionally read lesson notes because reading it expands my knowledge base.
Writing the unique curriculums and intentionally reading through the curriculums once in a while have greatly expanded my knowledge base.
Listen!
You must not *write books* like me to expand your knowledge base.
But, you MUST *READ BOOKS* if you want to expand your knowledge base.
I'm not talking about fictions! Though good, but my emphasis is on *reading things related to your curriculums.*
You need to have fair knowledge of the contents you offer to your learners.
You need to express certain level of authority in different topics when Communicating with parents and intending parents.
Discuss science topics, art topics, commercial topics and general topics like a pro.
It's very achievable if only you can try.
That's a very easy way to build your self worth because

And the more you know,
The more confident you feel in conversations, decisions and challenges.
That confidence is what fuels your sense of *Self Worth*

*Contact hours* is the teaching hours.
The time teachers deliver knowledge.
The hours of curriculum coverage.
*Content Hours*
Is the learning hours.
The time for retention of knowledge.
The time for expression of knowledge.
*Content hours* is the time the students truly understand the lesson, retain the knowledge and apply the knowledge.
Some schools focus all attention on *Contact hours*
Ignoring
*Content hours*
The truth is, *Content hours* is meant to be done more at home.
But realistically,
how many children actually read at home?
How many parents actually bring out time to engage their children at study hours?
The most they do is *home fun or assignments*
As a school that desires growth,
what are you supposed to do to ensure that your learners achieve *knowledge retention*
and
*knowledge expression?*
Listen!
parents will never take responsibility for their children's poor performance in school.
They will always blame it on school.
And once the blame game starts, the next thing is withdrawal of their children from the school.
So what should schools do to increase *Knowledge retention*
And
avert withdrawals?
My suggestion!

There are so many ways you can achieve

Some of you school leaders do certain things out of *Organisational or institutional habits* not because it works.
You focus so much on the *completion of your curriculum or scheme of work* within a given time frame.
You push your teachers to achieve *content coverage* and sacrifice *content Retention*
You focus your energy on
*Speed and Completion*
And ignore *Retention and application*
Listen people!
School growth does not come from the amount of *knowledge you deliver to your learners.*
School growth comes from the amount of *knowledge your learners remember and express.*
This is one status quo I challenged right from the inception of our school.

Status quo says *45 minutes* per lesson and about *8-10 subjects* a day.
I say minimum of *1 hour per lesson* and not more than *5 subjects* a day in primary and 6 subjects a day in secondary.
In our early day, I lost a parent because of this.
She was a teacher in a public school and she kept complaining that 6 subjects a day was too few for her son in JSS1.
I refused to budge and she pulled her 3 children to another school.
9 years after, I'm not still budging and my school is growing smoothly and satisfactorily.

Dear school owner or school administrator,
Stop projecting your challenges/ problems to your parents.
Project your achievements to them.
Stop sharing your delicate pains with them.
Share your biggest wins with them.
Keep your challenges to your self.
Tackle the challenges and overcome them.
Then, push out the breakthroughs to your parents.
Push out your *Gains* to them Not your *Pains.*
Sharing your challenges/ Problems with your parents does not show
*AUTHENTICITY*
It shows
*VULNERABILITY*
When you put your school in a *Vulnerable state*,
You expose your school and indeed, yourself to:
👉Manipulation
👉Disrespect
👉Rejection
👉Unhealthy criticism
Listen!
Making your school Vulnerable will damage your school reputation and drastically reduce parents' tolerance.
Listen!
Sharing
your problems
Your pains
Your frustrations
Your challenges
With your parents is not about being *Real*
It's about being *Weak*
A *Weak* leader can not command Respect.
No body celebrates challenges.
People celebrate breakthroughs.
Most people do not want to identify with problems.
But, most people want to identify with success.
That is why it is often said that : Success has many relations.

Keep your challenges out of the ears of your parents.
Work towards overcoming the challenges.
And when you do:
Shout out your success
Loud it very well.
If possible, deafen your parents
With your success.

To have wild imagination means: You should think and dream about anything.
I mean think about doing things that seem

👉 unpredictable.

Don't give room for any doubt
Don't give room for any limitation like:
no money, no space, no teachers etc.
Just think wildly and freely.
No body bills you for thinking.

Don't position your self/ your school to be *Pitied* by parents.
Position your self/ School to be *Envied* by parents.
Don't speak with *fear and apprehension*
so as to be *pitied;*
Speak with *confidence, courage and pride* so as to be
*envied.*
Don't dress like a maid or market woman because you want to gain *sympathy* and *Pity*
Dress like the boss you are so as to attract *admiration* and *respect*
Listen!
Parents will not remain in your school out of *sympathy;*
Parents will remain in your school due to *satisfaction.*
Parents will not enroll their children in your school out of *pity.*
Parents will only enrol their children in your school out of *Admiration*
So my dear!
👉Stop the Pity Party.
👉Kill that victim Mentality
👉Change the defeatist Attitude
AND

Become unapologetically optimistic
Clothe your self with the outlook of cheerfulness, contentment and Stoicism at all time.
Pity doesn't pay!

SCHOOL GROWTH STRATEGY
Don't discard a beautiful strategy/ Idea because you feel it's too expensive to implement.
Take the strategy and look for cheaper ways of implementing it in your school.
You must not do it the way you saw it.
*That is where creativity comes in.*
That is where innovation and adaptability come in.
What matters most is the result you achieve through the strategy.
Stop using *finance/ money* to limit your brain from thinking out beautiful solutions.
When you see a beautiful strategy,
Don't dwell on the cost of implementation!
Dwell on the results you'll achieve through it.
Dwell on how it will impact on your school growth journey.
If you see great potentials in the strategy,
Just tell your self that- you will do it.
That positive affirmation alone,
will instantly make your brain to begin to fashion out best ways you'll achieve it without spending so much.
That is the power of positive thinking🤔.
Our brains work in response to our thoughts.
Fill your mind with positive thoughts and your brain will perform Wonders for you.

Don't focus all your attention on graduation.
Graduation is too far a time to impress parents.
Begin to impress your parents immediately with what you do with their children.
