Why Is Halloween Celebrated In America And Other Countries.... Why Don't We Celebrate Halloween...
🎃 The True Story Behind Halloween
Over 2,000 years ago, the ancient Celts in Ireland celebrated a festival called Samhain on October 31st.
They believed that on this night, the spirits of the dead returned to the earth because the line between the living and the dead was very thin.
To protect themselves, people lit big bonfires, wore scary animal-skin costumes, and offered food to please the spirits and keep away evil ones.
That was the beginning of what later became Halloween.
When Christianity spread to Europe, the Church made November 1st All Saints’ Day (also called All Hallows’ Day) to honor saints.
The night before — All Hallows’ Eve — kept many of the old Samhain traditions, just under a new name.
Over time, All Hallows’ Eve became Halloween.
Irish people later carried these customs to America, where they started trick-or-treating and carving pumpkins (called Jack-o’-lanterns).
And that’s how Halloween grew from an ancient Celtic spirit festival into the modern celebration we know today — with costumes, lights, and treats.
So, do you believe the dead returns to earth on October 31st?
