Whatever you do, wherever you find yourself, never be known nor associated with laziness.

Let your name spark thoughts of diligence, excellence, and relentless drive.

Because in a world full of excuses, discipline stands out.

Be the one who shows up. Be the one who gets it done.

As a Product Manager, one of the most critical skills I have come to develop is the ability to differentiate between what users want and what they actually need.

Users often express their desires in feature requests or complaints, but taking them at face value can lead to misguided product decisions. Instead of immediately acting on every request, dig deeper:

๐Ÿ“Œ What problem are they trying to solve?
๐Ÿ“Œ Whatโ€™s causing their frustration?
๐Ÿ“Œ How can we make their lives easier?

For example, a user might request a โ€œdark modeโ€ in an app. But their real need could be reducing eye strain during extended use. A PM who understands this might explore adaptive brightness, better font contrast, or focus modes as alternative solutions.

By identifying the real needs behind the wants, we build solutions that are impactful, user-centric, and drive real value, not just band-aid fixes.

Remember, great products donโ€™t just fulfill requests; they solve problems in the best way possible.

Always uncovered a deeper need behind a user request!

In 2006, Microsoft launched the Zune to compete with Appleโ€™s iPod. But that didnโ€™t work out. Hereโ€™s the problem, it didnโ€™t offer anything significantly better. By then, Appleโ€™s iTunes ecosystem was already dominant, making it easy for users to buy, organize, and enjoy music seamlessly. Zune was just another MP3 player, not a game-changer.

Microsoftโ€™s Zune had two major problems;

โŒNo competitive advantage - It didnโ€™t offer anything significantly better than iPod.

โŒLate to the party - Timing matters in business also. By the time they arrived, Apple had already won consumers trust.

If youโ€™re entering a crowded and competitive market, offering a product thatโ€™s just โ€œas goodโ€ wonโ€™t cut it. You need a clear differentiator; something that solves a pain point better, offers superior convenience, or creates an irresistible experience.

So before you launch that product, ask yourself: Why would customers switch from their current solution to mine? If the answer isnโ€™t strong enough, go back to the drawing board.

Itโ€™s easy to assume that what you like is what users want. But personal opinions donโ€™t equal user needs.

To build products that truly solve problems, keep bias in check:

โœ… Use data, not assumptions - What users do is more important than what you think they want. Dive into analytics and behavior patterns.

โœ… Talk to real users - Internal feedback is helpful, but nothing beats hearing directly from the people whoโ€™ll actually use your product.

โœ… A/B test ideas - Let data, not gut feelings, validate decisions. Experiment, measure, and iterate.

Many failed products ignored this. They built something futuristic but not necessarily useful.

Remember; cool isnโ€™t the same as valuable.

Always put users first. Thatโ€™s how you build products that win.

A great product isnโ€™t just one that works; itโ€™s one that delivers real value to users and drives business growth. But how do you measure that success?

Success isnโ€™t just about having a functional product; itโ€™s about ensuring it meets key performance indicators (KPI) that reflect real impact. Here are five essential product success metrics you should track:

โœจAdoption Rate โ€“ How many new users are signing up? Growth starts with attracting and onboarding the right audience.

โœจRetention Rate โ€“ How many users keep coming back? A great product doesnโ€™t just attract users, it keeps them engaged.

โœจEngagement Metrics โ€“ How often are users interacting with your product? High engagement signals strong user value.

โœจRevenue & Profitability โ€“ Is the product generating sustainable income? A product must not only serve users but also drive business success.

โœจCustomer Satisfaction โ€“ Do users love your product? Happy customers become loyal advocates.

โœจBuilding a great product means keeping these success indicators in check. Measure what matters, iterate based on insights, and create something users canโ€™t live without.

PS: Product here can be physical product, digital product & Service-based product.

What does success mean for your product? Most importantly, how are you measuring them?

A well-crafted narrative helps users connect with your product on a deeper level, making it more than just a purchase; it becomes part of their journey.

โ˜‘๏ธNike doesnโ€™t just sell shoes; they sell the grit and determination of an athlete pushing past limits.
โ˜‘๏ธAirbnb isnโ€™t just about accommodations; itโ€™s about the feeling of belonging anywhere in the world.

When you weave storytelling into your product, you donโ€™t just attract users, you create loyalists.

So, what story is your product telling?
