Why do you think a lead who was excited on your timeline suddenly goes cold as soon as you start talking?
I know Bala would want to say “Because they are not serious nau, they out to waste my time”
Trust me…
People don’t come to Linkedin looking to torment you.
That’s the job of village people.
So what exactly happened that caused them to go silent?
DId they get busy or forget and how can you stop that from ever happening again?
Here's what's actually happening when they first DM you.
They are at the ‘Interest Threshold.’
Here, attention is fixed.
Hope is activated.
But zero trust has been established yet.
They are not YET your client.
They are a possibility.
And possibilities expire fast if you don't handle them right.
So they send the first DM or they drop a comment on your post and you chat them up,
Hoping to discern if you are their Knight in shining armour.
And after two or three messages where you explain what you will be doing and how much you charge…. Silence.
The silence is so loud that you can hear your village people laughing in the background.
The problem is not them.
It is you.
You did not successfully guide them from the interest threshold into the Hall of Trust.
How?
You did not take the time to properly understand them,
to listen to them and to make them trust your interest in actually helping them, not just closing them.
You handled them as another deal to close and not a person with a real struggle.
So the next time another client reaches out to you,
Pause and do the due diligence to ask of their struggles,
Get to understand their unique pain and desired goals.
Before ever trying to talk about your process.
Else you lose them at the interest threshold.
Show that you are more interested in understanding and helping,
Rather than just landing and closing.
Nobody wants to feel like just another ‘job’ for you.
You gerrit?
