A scholar once said "the most effective way of learning is practicing"
I know you were not born a bookworm but constant engagement with books helps you develop your interest greatly.
Don't forget, in consistency lies the power!
Keep opening the books, bit upon bits, read with understanding and get engaged with it personally.

Dear learner,
Take it personally!
01/06/2026
MAKE IT PERSONAL!
Reading is like having a conversation with what is written in the book, no matter the kind.
Allow the content speak to you and respond to it with your understanding of what's being communicated in it.
To engage properly with a book, avoid generalizing the experience by thinking it's just a book written to everyone.
In a much better way, be directly connected to it by making it personal!

She really cried that day....could she have forgiven him?
It was a Friday morning....we were in our maths class.
The teacher entered ready to scrutinize the assignment he had given us in the last period.
His usually method was this - to solve the equation on the board before he went round checking our notes to see our performance.
He did this with his usual instruction "all eyes should be fixed on the board, all pens down! "
After a while, he started checking our notes and then came to one of us - she was the genius of my class, so to speak. He picked up the girl's note and then looked surprised....
A loud slap on the girl's face changed the whole thing and then the whole class went dumb...
"What could she had scored? What could he had seen?" we thought.
"How were you able to copy what's on the board despite that I gave you my instructions not to write while I am making corrections" He spoke angrily
With tears, she managed to mumble words. " Sir, I..... didn't" She sobs.
One of us quickly raised her hands without thinking and spoke " Sorry Sir, she couldn't have copied your work....if everybody else did that, she that I know so well wouldn't!
Another spoke along " We even saw her notes this morning before you came in, She had done the assignment already."
Our maths teacher realized that he had reacted so fast, he became shorts of words then quickly adjusted himself and said "Hmmm ohhhhh really....well, it looked exactly the way I did it on the board...I thought she copied truly. Anyways, sorry about that, I apologize dear, and please, let me see you after class...
The girl was asked to sit down and the class continued...Everybody watched her quietly sobbing till the end of the class...
What do you think about the teacher's reaction?

They are watching you!
Dear teacher,
Students are good at observing their teachers.
They don't only see you when you teach;
They notice how you talk outside of the classroom,
They watch you while you are alone,
They observe you when interacting with other students,
They listen when you are conversing with other colleagues,
They see you when you are interacting with parents,
They also observe when you are not in the school environment.
Therefore, position yourself always to be found as that responsible teacher that reflects the beauty of that profession everywhere!!!

Love what you do!
You are not just a teacher who works for a living but a shaper of destinies.
Live what you do!
A teacher in the classroom and a teacher out there! To you, it's not just a job but a life you live.
Wear what you do!
Not just the corporate clothes now, but an appearance that makes you perceived to be an instructor of knowledge.

Dear learner,
Being passive in class won't help it!
Enjoy participating in what is being done in the learning environment.

Considering the psychological and emotional wellbeing of your students can't be erased.
Isolating the learner to have deep conversations with them can be very helpful.
Many of them need someone to pour out their hearts to. They need encouragement, they need your comforting words, they need love and care!
Dear teacher,
Be available!
Be that close confidant to your students!

It was my first year in the senior secondary school when I had a memorable experience with my new class teacher.
This was the incident...
Now, we had a rule in my class, we were expected sign in and sign out of the class register for attendance daily with our class teacher.
But unfortunately, on this fateful day, I was carried away with after-school activities (it was playing around, by the way) and so, I was still within the school environment with others who had not gone home.
Later that afternoon, it dawned on me! "You have not signed your attendance today!" I thought and my heart sank.
I quickly rushed down to her office, and luckily for me, she was still in the office about to close up for the day already.
She knew what I came for and I did all the pleading I could do with tears already welling up in my eyes but she refused to let me sign. 'It's past the closing time, we will meet tomorrow!" she spoke sternly.
The countenance on her face already passed the message.
"You are in soup!" I thought to myself and the emotional me started crying and started to turn back to leave.
I had taken some feet away from her office when I heard my name faintly.
"Did she just call me?"
I dragged my feet back to the office with shame on my face agreeing to bear the consequences of my action.
Getting back there, she looked at me face to face and saw how overwhelmed I had already been.
You are a baby, I know" she said smiling...
What do you want me to do?
I said, with my voice shaking "forgive me ma and allow me sign out for today, I won't do that again"
She felt the fear in me already and perceived that I was genuinely sorry for my action. She also knew that allowing me go home without calling me back can damage me for I had cried out my eyes in such a short period of time.
She did sign my attendance that day and "the baby in me" was comforted.
From this, I learnt as well that teachers should learn to understand how learners feel and relate with them with compassion.
Dear teacher, it's good to be Disciplined but also be Empathetic!
