"AIM FOR EXCELLENCE", BACOLAW ALUMNA CHARGES UPCOMING GRADUATES

Simbiat Lola graduated from Bola Ajibola College of Law (BACOLAW) in 2020. She finished with a second class upper division with series of student leadership awards during her studies at Crescent University.

In a recent interview with Idris Katib,a Principal Assistant Registrar (Public Relations), Simbiat Lola unveiled that academic excellence propelled her to the Nigerian law school where she also graduated in the top 10% out of about 6,000 students across Nigeria.

Below is the excerpt:

Q: Can you take us through other programmes you did abroad after your graduation, especially in Geneva, Switzerland?

A: I was selected for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program for software engineering in 2021. I have thereafter represented my company at the United Nations Geneva, to contribute to the growing discussion on Artificial intelligence and regulations.Thereafter, I went on to UNILAG for my full time LLM programme, where I also graduated with a second class upper degree.

Q: We learned you topped multiple LLM courses during your Master's at UNILAG. Is there a connection between the training you received at BACOLAW and these achievements?

A: I topped my class in three courses out of four courses I took in second semester (Constitutional Law II, International Institution II and Planning Law) during my full time LLM at University of Lagos. Yes, my stay at BACOLAW definitely contributed to this. I learned consistency, clarity of thought and aiming for excellence at Crescent University.

Q: What do you do currently?

A: I am Legal technologist and also the Chief Executive Officer of Cyntonisca Ltd, a legal technology company focused on bridging the gap between law and technology.

Q: What is your vision as Chairman of NBA Young Lawyers Forum, Eti-Osa Branch?

A: I aim at connecting, creating value, building trust and prioritizing the welfare of every young lawyer within Eti-OSA jurisdiction.

Q: Your advice to the upcoming BACOLAW graduates?

A: My advice will be to aim for excellence in all they do. I didn’t graduate with a first class but I was well known with excellence in every area of my doings. The sky is their limit.
