Since morning, I've been finding it hard to put my emotions into words but I'll try to.

I am the daughter of a mechanic, a fact that raised eyebrows and doubts in many minds. But here I am, not just graduating, but graduating with a first-class degree.

Today, as I stand here in my cap and gown, I am overwhelmed with emotions. Emotions of gratitude, joy, and triumph.

This convocation isn't just a ceremony; it's a testament to the countless struggles, sacrifices, and small victories that have defined my undergraduate years.

I want to share with you the raw, real story of my journey – a journey that was anything but smooth.

At times I questioned if I could endure, questioned my own abilities, wondering if I truly belonged in the university.

I could vividly remember on my matriculation day, I ate semo with no stew, drank garri in the afternoon and nothing for dinner. (My cousin could testify to this).

There were times when I had to sacrifice my breakfast and lunch so I can have money for transport fare to attend lectures.

The road I tread was not paved with certainty or privilege; it was a winding, uncertain path through financial constraints, self-doubt, and societal skepticism.

Yet, here I am, a testament to the power of prayers, persistence, grit, hard work, and unwavering determination.

Amidst the struggles, there was a network of people who stood by my parents and me, and it's to each one of you that I owe this achievement. I am indeed grateful to you all.

My dad's grease-stained hands and my mom's midnight prayers pushed me forward and made this dream a reality. I'll be forever grateful.

As I accept this honor today, I do so with a heart full of humility. Stepping forward, the journey doesn’t end here; it’s just the beginning of a new chapter filled with limitless possibilities.

Congratulations to me. Baraqahllahu feeh.
