French Verb of the Day

Avoir = To have

This is one of the most important verbs in French!

Examples:
- J'ai un livre. — I have a book.
- Tu as un stylo. — You have a pen.
- Nous avons une voiture. — We have a car.

Fun Fact:
French uses avoir in many expressions where English uses "to be."

👉J'ai faim. = I am hungry.
👉 J'ai soif. = I am thirsty.

Master avoir, and you'll be able to form hundreds of useful French sentences!

French Vocabulary Surprise!

Did you know that the French word "librairie" does not mean library?

Librairie = Bookshop
Bibliothèque = Library

This is one of the most common mistakes French learners make because the words look so similar!

So, if you want to buy a book, go to a librairie.
If you want to borrow a book, go to a bibliothèque.

French and English can be tricky sometimes!

French Word of the Day: DÉJÀ VU

Have you ever entered a place for the first time and felt like you've been there before? Or met someone and felt strangely familiar with them?
That feeling is called déjà vu, a French expression that literally means "already seen."
- Déjà = already
- Vu = seen
Today, the expression is used in many languages, including English.

Example: J'ai un déjà-vu.
( I have a feeling that I've experienced this before.)

Fun fact: Déjà vu is one of the most widely used French expressions in the world. Many people use it without even realizing it's French!
