*INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF THE NEWLY APPOINTED ESAN AE-FUNAI CARETAKER COMMITTEE*

The inauguration of the newly appointed Caretaker Committee of the Education Students Association of Nigeria (ESAN), AE-FUNAI Chapter, was held yesterday being Wednesday 11th June, 2025 at the Faculty of Education Board Room, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI).

The ceremony began with an opening speech by the Chairman, Faculty of Education Students’ Welfare Committee, Dr. Beatrice Eze. She expressed her gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Elom, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Sunday Abonyi, and other lecturers whose support made the event a success. Dr. Eze explained that the appointments were based on recommendations and the credible track records of the selected students. She further outlined the purpose of the caretaker committee: to strengthen ESAN AE-FUNAI, set standards, organize a credible election as soon as possible, and hand over leadership to capable individuals. She also emphasized that the committee has a limited time to work.

The Secretary of the Board, Dr. Kelechi Mezieobi, officially introduced the members of the caretaker committee as follows:

6. Nwughala Prosper – Director of Information

8. Odo Chiemerie – Director of Socials
9. Awucha Kalu – Director of Sports
10. Akpan Patric – Director of Academic Planning
11. Uka Victor – Financial Secretary
12. Ebuzomonye DanieMary – Director of Welfare
In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Sunday Abonyi, thanked Dr. Beatrice Eze and acknowledged the challenges of managing a large faculty as ours without student union executives. He charged the caretaker head and his team to address the issues facing the association, and to ensure that credible elections are conducted promptly. He then officially inaugurated the committee members and urged them to function effectively in their roles.

The Deputy Dean, Dr. Odo, congratulated the committee members, noting that it is no
