MEDITATION 30. I have often wondered about the intense loyalty Jesus commands.

I realise in part that it comes from his accomodating nature, his acceptance of those with unpublishable yesterdays, his understanding of human frailty. We see it with that pr******te, the one who bought a Roja Haute Luxe Parfums from SAKS Fifth Avenue and poured it on his head. That perfume cost $3500. It has gold flakes. It's the type Judas would have loved to get his sordid fingers on. She knelt at the feet of Jesus broken, weeping, possibly shattered. (Luke‬ ‭7:36-‬39)

Brokenness is when life completely overwhelms you, when you have no strength left in you, not an ounce. There's so much pain and anguish on the inside. So much turmoil. You feel helpless. As you lie prostrate before God your being supplicates the Almighty in groans. You know you've reached the end of yourself. It's the end of the road. Only God can put you back together again.

Remember the five-time divorcee with a live-in boyfriend... It's quite possible Jesus was the first man she ever met who didn't try to date her or sleep with her. He accorded her respect. You can see it in their engagement. They were discussing politics. Her marital status was a minor footnote in their discussion. She could disclose her personal history because she felt safe, felt free. No condemnation.

If Jesus can accommodate a Peter, a Thomas, a Leke Alder... Surely Leke Alder can accommodate other imperfect lives. We must immitate Jesus in character. That’s Christianity.

What makes a man say there's no God? It takes some confidence, even stubborness to refuse to believe what everyone else believes. And I respect that. So does God.

The positioning of religion as anti science partly accounts for these unbeliefs. With science out of the equation creation becomes magic rather than seem magical. Yet the numbers and formulas are obvious. Maths is the language of the universe. Many religionists won't even examine the evidence. They're afraid of losing their faith, which is kind of strange.

I do not believe science is anti God, or that God is anti science and anti reason. Were God to be against science it would make no sense whatsoever. Creation was scheduled in Genesis. That hints at the systematic.

As per God and reason, how can the God who says, "Come now, let us reason together" not be rational? (Isaiah 1:18) He'll be invalidating himself.

The idea the realm of science is outside of God creates a logical and theological challenge. It's impossible for a God not to understand Physics and remain God. Means there's a realm of knowledge outside of God.

This science challenge is easily resolved in the concept of the Logos. One of the translations of "Logos" is "word", hence John called Jesus "Word" - "In the beginning was the Word..." (John 1:1). But another translation is "reason". God is logical.

The question of God and science was neatly resolved by Paul when he wrote: "In him (the Logos) lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Colossians 2:3). That presumably includes the sciences. John says creation was done by this science understanding Logos (John 1:3).

If God were lacking in knowledge of science man must necessarily be God since he'll know more than God. For God to be God he must be all knowing, and no knowledge including that of the sciences can be beyond him.
