*Maximising University Education through A-Level Programmes: the safest and most convenient way to affordable tertiary education*

Getting into the university of your choice and budget is one hell of a difficult task in Nigeria. This is owed to the fact that the yearly subscription to university education is above the carrying capacity of existing universities in the country. It is for this reason that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) steps in to streamline and moderate entrance into the Universities in Nigeria. Invariably, an applicant who has already passed his/her O-level (WASSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, etc), and as such qualified for University education, will have to wait for a university entry moderation by JAMB before he/she will pursue, first, her dream of going to the University, then her dream course of study.

While JAMB is never a certifying examination that carries any credit that can be quoted on a CV, it is one hell of a-gate-pass ticket that could mess up all your more than 14 years of schooling and more often than not frustrate young chaps seeking admission into the University. The good news is, we can do without the stress or create an attractive bye-pass with far more bountiful incentives.

Around two decades ago, one could find rationalisation for being stuck by JAMB, but today the narrative has changed. There are quite a number of A-Level Programmes which make entry into the University seamless, affordable, flexible and hassle-free.

At once, these programmes, gives one a great advantage of getting into the University by passing through JAMB but without writing UTME examination. Most of these A-Level Programmes are sandwiched in Universities and other tertiary institutions, while others are even run on ad hoc basis or by specialised and professional institutes. In this category, the Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) is one that is exclusively run by subscribing universities alone; then we have the Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMBE) that is run by universities and even colleges. The JUPEB was established by a consortium of Federal, State and private Universities, while IJMBE is a statutory Federal Government body stationed in Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. The NABTEB is another Federal Government board that has expanded its range of programmes to include A-Level courses. It is a more affordable version of the duo already mentioned earlier.

These A-Level Programmes and many others, when passed qualifies you for admission in the second year of many Federal, state and private Universities in Nigeria and even abroad. It gives you an added advantage of maximising your admission chances, allowing you to be admitted into the course of your choice and even at the second year of such course. It saves you time, money and stress. In all, giving you a cheaper, faster, reliable and more assuring and firmer pathway to University Education.
