As Namibia accelerates its water infrastructure development and green economy ambitions, our Technical Working Group (TWG) is ensuring our national qualifications keep pace. Comprising subject matter experts from across industry, utilities, and training institutions, the TWG is reviewing and modernising Water Supply and Sanitation qualifications and unit (competency) standards this week. Sarti Immanuel is the responsible coordinator from our TVET Standards Division, supported by Manager Ruusa Iitula-Hango. Together, we are creating credible, industry-driven pathways!

This morning, our Manager: Assessment and Certification, Nicoletta Kooper-Kolomoni, officially opened the E-Assessment Instrument Design Training Workshop and the energy in the room said it all.
Wondering what e-assessment actually means? It's not something entirely new - it's simply the digitisation of the formal assessment process, while practical assessments remain exactly that - practical. Same standards, smarter delivery.
At a time when Namibia's skills development system is embracing the digital future, this training brings together TVET practitioners, our GIZ Namibia partners, and Unisa - The University of South Africa's Prof. Anthony Brown, to ensure that every Namibian learner continues to be assessed fairly, credibly, and consistently, now in a digital environment; all grounded in Regulation 318 of the Vocational Education and Training Act, Act 1 of 2008, because a qualification is only as strong as the instrument behind it. We are proud of the work happening in that room today.

We continue to strengthen our good working relations and collaboration with the Ministry of Education Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture through ongoing engagement with the Ministry’s leadership and key stakeholders. Our Chief Executive Officer, Mr Erick Fundula Nengwanya, recently joined Honourable Minister Dr Sanet Steenkamp and Honourable Deputy Minister Dino Ballotti during the showcasing of Namibia’s Country of the Year award, which was received at the Regional Annual Sports Awards held in Luanda, Angola.
The award was officially received on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Namibia by Honourable Ballotti and later shared with stakeholders in Windhoek as part of celebrating Namibia’s regional achievement and continued excellence in sport and youth development. During the occasion, Mr Nengwanya highlighted that the NTA values its continued cooperation with the Ministry in advancing national development priorities, youth empowerment and skills development in Namibia.

• A roadmap for research, reporting and data management
Together, we are building the system that connects Namibian talent to Namibian opportunity. The work continues.

Mr Absalom Seburon, Head of Institution at Atlantic Training Institution (ATI), recently sat down with our CEO, Mr Erick Fundula Nenghwanya, at NTA Village, to talk about what actually moves the needle: apprenticeships, internships, workplace attachments and structured training programmes that turn potential into employable skills. The Atlantic Training Institution has been quietly doing the work - putting young Namibians into accredited programmes and real workplaces. That's the kind of partnership TVET needs more of.
Mr Nenghwanya put the challenge squarely to corporate Namibia: if you have space in your business, open it up. A desk, a workshop floor, a mentorship opportunity - that's how we build a generation that works. Who's next?
