We are glad NUST is part of this TVET Policy workshop. The future of TVET looks bright indeed!!
Tech,Vocational Training gurus discuss vocational education draft policy
The ministry of higher education, the Namibia Training Authority (NTA) and vocational education stakeholders have held a validation workshop today on a TVET draft policy.
The policy is meant to better position vocational education so it can aid in the industrial and economic development of Namibia as per the NDP5 and the Harambee Prosperity Plan (HPP).
NTA chief operations officer, Richwell Lukonga reflected on the institution’s achievements during the past decade and the TVET expansion and transformation initiatives.
The higher education ministry’s deputy executive director, Raimo Naanda, provided an overview of the revised TVET policy.
The workshop has further discussed the improvement of governance and management of the TVET system, how to enhance quality and relevance of TVET programmes, how to increase access and equity in TVET programmes, how to promote research, innovation and entrepreneurship in the sector as well as diversifying sources of funding and equitable financing of TVET programmes.
Naanda decried a lack of research into the sector.
He also talked of the proposal to establish a higher education and skills development fund.
