Origin of the Sole...

I am Kerwin De Matas, and I come from the twin island state of Trinidad and Tobago, renowned for its popular carnival, steel pan music, beaches, and of course, our rum!

This environment was sufficient in its way to instill within me the love of having a good time, the joy of meeting new people, and shaping me to go onwards to the international food and beverage scene via the cruise line industry, from the age of 21.

22 years in this phenomenal atmosphere created within me the excitement towards excelling in the Food & Beverage industry and the passion to providing elite and outstanding guest services to the people coming to the cruise lines for a vacation which would and should surpass everything they were expecting.

Coming to Namibia, I was fortunate to find employment within a distribution company, giving me the opportunity to work within the field I knew and love, and through this venture, giving me an overview during the period of three years, to see where there was definitely potential to impart my knowledge within the local tourism industry and to assist on improving the guest services within the local customer and guest establishments.

Hence the reason, Sole of Hospitality was born.

Apart from the food and beverage standards which are concentrated upon during my coaching sessions, the FISH! Philosophy plays a huge part as this was the concept I was coached on. This concept only enhanced my willingness to forge forward towards giving the best of me, and also teaching me how important it is to work as a team.
