Dissipelskap en dissipline het dieselfde bron-woord... 'n goeie artikel :-)
Moms and Dads, does discipline wear you out? I think Mr. Rogers provides encouragement for us that when we invest in the "continual, everyday process of helping our children" we sow seeds that will reap countless benefits when they become adults--self-disciplined adults.
Yes, it can be exhausting, and for many moms especially, the journey can feel lonely, and on some days fruitless. Allow the words of Mr. Rogers to inspire you today. Jesus had twelve disciples. How many do you have under your roof?
As parents, we get the distinct privilege of being our child's primary discipler. It's not up to the children or youth pastor. And it's not a burden, it's a privilege. God chose YOU to raise and love the children he put into your care.
Remember, Jesus spent close time with twelve men, and very close time with three in particular. One of his disciples, Peter, even betrayed him three times, cut off the ear of a soldier, and committed countless other shenanigans. You think Jesus wasn't about fed up with Peter? Yet, it was he who Jesus used to start the Church.
Yes, discipline is a process, but a very rewarding one, especially when we see it as the privilege it is to disciple little souls to become self-disciplined adults--the kind of disciples who change the world with the love of Jesus. Mom and dad, I know it can take a lot out of you, but what you're doing matters!
