That groan of “I don’t get it”? It’s not laziness. It’s your child’s brain signaling that something about the task isn’t connecting. Learning isn’t about forcing information — it’s about building bridges between what your child knows and what they’re trying to understand.

Here’s how to support them effectively:

1️⃣ Chunk and scaffold learning
The brain struggles with large, abstract tasks. Break homework into small, manageable steps and build each skill progressively. Ask: “What do you already know that can help with this?”

2️⃣ Activate prior knowledge
Before starting a topic, help your child recall related concepts. Linking new information to something familiar strengthens memory and understanding.

3️⃣ Encourage metacognition
Ask them to reflect: “What strategy worked? What confused you?” Kids who think about how they learn develop resilience and problem-solving skills, not just better grades.

4️⃣ Normalize struggle and failure
The brain grows through effort and mistakes. Celebrate attempts, experiments, and “not getting it yet” — the word yet is powerful.

5️⃣ Use multi-sensory approaches
