OFFICIAL ENDORSEMENT OF COMRADE ESTHER SIMON FOR THE POSITION OF EXECUTIVE CHAIRPERSON OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NAMIBIA

The Students Union of Namibia (SUN), together with the Progressive SWAPO Party Youth League, the Congress of Democrats (COD), the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), and SWANU Youth, proudly and unequivocally endorse Comrade Esther Simon as the preferred candidate for the position of Executive Chairperson of the National Youth Council (NYC) of Namibia.

At a defining moment in the history of youth development and leadership in our country, we call upon young people from all corners of Namibia to rally behind a leader whose track record speaks with clarity, conviction, and distinction.

Comrade Esther Simon is a tested, resilient, and visionary youth leader. She broke barriers and rewrote history as the first female President of the Namibia National Students Organisation (NANSO) in an era dominated by patriarchal structures and entrenched gender inequalities. Her election and successful leadership demonstrated not only courage and determination but also an unwavering commitment to inclusive and transformative youth representation.

Her leadership credentials extend beyond our national borders. She has served with distinction as an executive member of the Southern African Students Association, championing the interests of young people across the region and fostering solidarity among student movements throughout Southern Africa.

Furthermore, her appointment as Economic Advisor to the late Hage Geingob stands as a testament to her intellectual depth, policy acumen, and unwavering dedication to national development.

In times when the youth demand unity, principled leadership, and a renewed vision for progress, we look to Comrade Esther Simon. She embodies the aspirations of a generation seeking meaningful participation, economic empowerment, social justice, and accountable governance.

As delegates prepare to convene in Swakopmund this coming weekend for the National Youth Council elections, we urge all stakeholders to support a candidate who possesses the experience, integrity, and proven leadership necessary to steer the institution towards a new era of relevance and impact.

The future of Namibia's youth requires bold leadership. The future demands Esther Simon.

Forward with youth unity. Forward with transformative leadership. Forward with Comrade Esther Simon.

When you get your money, use it wisely, but most importantly please do pass your examinations, stay away from Alcohol.... we wish you well,

The Ministry of Education and the Students Union of Namibia (SUN) have sought to reassure students amid concerns over delayed NSFAF payments, announcing that non-tuition allowances are expected to begin flowing from the second week of June. In separate statements issued this week, the ministry said NSFAF is continuing to process tuition and non-tuition payments and has adopted a strategy to make non-tuition disbursements on a weekly basis. SUN, following engagements with the ministry and NSFAF, welcomed the arrangement and said some students could begin receiving allowances as early as 10 June.

The union also confirmed that institutions have been instructed to allow students to sit for examinations despite financial challenges. In addition, tuition payments are expected to be processed at the end of every month going forward. Both parties called for continued cooperation to ensure students are not disadvantaged while payment processes are being finalised.
