Grade 1s delighted by the smart board after demonstration by Tonia Jacobs

Academic trip to Otjiwarongo Tuesday 7 July 2020.
First stop Edugate Academy
The Grade 1 group was joined by the parents and learners from Okonjima who is currently making use of Eduvision. Relieved parents and learners expressed their gratitude towards the founder, Mr Frikkie Louw and teachers. Mr Phillip Smit took them for a tour through the school premises and they could see the magic of the smart board as demonstrated by Mrs Tonia Jacobs.
The Grade 1s had their first introduction to a 'big school' and mingled with the Edugate learners during the short break.
The group the had the opportunity to listen to 'a life changing talk' as Martin put it, delivered by Mr Louw. It was the high light of the Eduvision Okonjima's trip.
Grade 1s visited the old steam locomotive in front of the station. MR 24/7 Rescue gave the group insight of the content of the ambulance and what the job of a para-medic entails.
No trip to Otjiwarongo could be well rounded off if it did not include ice cream at Wimpy.
A day full of blessings

Lock down for Perivoli Okonjima
On the lodge, lock down does not mean you can not go to school to get some work done. The school is situated on the western side of the 2000 ha safe zone.
Wide open spaces, game and rain. What a privilege to be here during this time.
Although a school staff meeting takes place through a fence called a takkies kraal, all is good, nothing stopping teachers from coming up with creative ideas all in high spirits.
We hope to soon be able to start teaching the kids of the remaining lodge staff.

Former student comes for a visit
Rosalia Ndaponondaka came for a visit. She has been at Perivoli since she was potty trained at the age of 2. She is 8 years now.
Quiet and hard working as always, she immediately got some cutting and laminating to do. Her feedback was positive. It is always good to reflect on what we as teachers can improve on. Her input is of great value.

16 March
After the sudden close down of schools, we did not have to prepare and inform our learners.
Fortunately it was possible to get them back to school on Tuesday 17 March.
Teacher Marnia Meyer explained the virus to them, how to take care of themselves and to be safe.

We also had the opportunity to say goodbye to Teacher Mia. She is leaving education for the world of business.

Farewell, Teacher Mia. No one can fully know what the future holds, but we are confident that you will be successful. Best of luck to you! You will be missed.

Everytime Grade 1 leaves the class for break time, the manner in which they do, is usually with a physical activity. After the class leader has called them to order and started the prayers, they are allowed to leave the class according to the theme/activity of the day.
Since most of them were wearing cheetah or leopard T-shirts from our curio shops Friday 13 March, it was not a difficult choice. And they do it so well!
