Why rhinos matter?

Rhinos have been around for millions of years and play a crucial role in their ecosystem. They're important grazers, consuming large amounts of vegetation, which helps shape the African landscape. This benefits other animals and keeps a healthy balance within the ecosystem.

Keep the five alive.
"The only way to save a rhinoceros is to save the environment in which it lives, because there's a mutual dependency between it and millions of other species of both animals and plants." -David Attenborough.

BROWN HYENAS IN LÜDERITZ
Following the recent brown hyena sightings inside our town and the concerns of some people, we wanted to remind everyone that brown hyenas are not a threat to humans, they are curious animals but also quite timid and regularly travel around our town. Brown hyenas often travel very long distances (up to more than 100km in one day) and will go back to the National Park by themselves. In our region they mostly feed on fur seals. They are protected by law, and they should be left alone. Simply make sure that your pets are protected by keeping your gates closed at night, make sure your rubbish bins are not left outside and please do not feed the animals.
For more information or any question, please visit the BHRP website: https://www.strandwolf.org/
