A freedom leader was, along with ten other colleagues, facing the possible death sentence standing accused of treason against the state. Those men had determined to bring an unjust system down. Hello Sewsters, I'm really sorry not to have posted for ages. Learning Portuguese and getting set up in Maputo has rather taken over my life! I did however find the time to dust off the sewing machine and brighten up our brown sofa with this splash of brilliant "capulana" colour. Miss Lizzie thinks we have too many cushions and I've gone capulana crazy but I'm not convinced! What do you think? Susanna x

Hello just found this fabulous fabric store in Maputo. They are mad about Capalanas here (they are the big bright prints that they wear as wrappers or make into clothes). Some classic designs here and even a pink spotty one to match my bag! Not sure the guy behind me is to impressed! Sewsanna x

Hi sorry I've not posted for a while but we made it down south to Mozambique. First trip to Spar in Maputo (it's a big South African chain Here) and found this, a sewing display ! (none of the machines were actually Bernina) Nearly got accosted by security for taking a photo but smiled sweetly excused myself for not speaking Portuguese and got away with it. Afraid Moz is just to hot to sew at present but the machine made it in one piece and has been out and I mended some trousers.I fashioned a rather wonky basket in crochet to while away an evening. Final sewing bee of 2017 its been lovely getting to know so many new people and building a little sewing community in Bury St Edmunds for the past 4 years but it has had to come to an end as I move to Mozambique in January . Mark will be working with a AMAC a legal charity and hopefully I will helping others start small business ventures under the umbrella of BMS world mission. I have loved sharing my sewing skills with you all, its been a lot of fun and I have made some fabulous friends. I will be packing my trusty sewing machine and who knows what sewing adventures we may have in Africa. I will try to share what I am getting up to occasionally on facebook but for now have a great Christmas, keep in touch and carry on stitching. With lots of love, Sewsanna xx
