Sept 22: World Car Free Day. Freedom isn’t owning a car. It’s not needing one. Car dependency isn’t inevitable —it’s a result of policy and design choices.

I hope that one day, more people will experience and understand the true benefits of a car-free life: not as a privilege or their circumstances allow it, but because our streets, transport systems, and cities are designed to make it a genuinely viable everyday choice.

One fewer car on the road.
Now imagine if there were thousands fewer. Less traffic, shorter queues, less pollution, safer streets, and a better drive for everyone.

So I’ve never understood the hostility toward people who commute by bike. Do you really want us to drive instead, adding more congestion and wasting everyone’s time? Or would you (drivers) rather support a city where fewer cars mean cleaner air and a more livable future for our children?

Hello, kiddos 🙌🚲

I wish our streets were safe enough for y’all to ride freely. Every time I see children cycling on our roads, I’m reminded of the kids I saw in the Netherlands and other bike-friendly cities. How happily they ride to school, parks, etc without constant adult supervision.

It’s also a reminder to keep speaking out against car dependency and to keep advocating for safer streets, so every child can experience that same freedom close to home.

There’s nothing progressive about glorifying car culture in 2026. The bare minimum is to stop glorifying or defending car dependency. If you’re genuinely curious, explore my page and Linktree to learn and READ about the harms of car dependency and its negative externalities.

One of the best feelings is cycling through quiet little streets with no motor vehicles, surrounded by paddy fields, lush green trees, and peaceful rivers. We could do this over and over again.
