Workshop Description:

This two-day class will begin with introducing participants to prescriptive analytics and how simple optimization problems can be solved by using Microsoft Excel. However, MS Excel's Solver is unsuitable for solving complex optimization problems. Therefore, Python will be introduced as a language for prescriptive analytics. Prescriptive Analytics is one of the key phases of business analytics, including descriptive, visual, diagnostics and predictive analytics.

Prescriptive analytics, commonly known as optimization, is referred to as the "final frontier of analytic capabilities". Prescriptive analytics entails the application of mathematical and computational sciences and suggests decision options to take advantage of the results of descriptive and predictive analytics.

Thus, participants will start learning Python, a programming language that emphasizes code readability. Learners will gain the working knowledge needed to begin programming, debugging and using Python specifically for prescriptive analytics.
