Petrol stations look like money-printing machines. Cars keep coming, pumps keep running. But a RM4 million investment earning RM20,000 a month takes over 16 YEARS just to pay back.

And fuel may not even be where the real money is. The convenience store, car wash and food can matter more.

With EVs growing, the business is changing too.

A petrol station isn’t just a fuel business. It’s a traffic and retail business.

Japan had millions of secondhand items it couldn’t sell. Malaysia turned them into treasure. Jalan Jalan Japan started as BOOKOFF’s answer to excess inventory — giving Japanese clothes, toys and household goods a second life from as little as RM1. One store became 23+ across Malaysia and Kazakhstan, with 100 targeted by 2033. Sometimes the product isn’t wrong. It’s just in the wrong market.

Oriental Kopi might be building something much bigger than a café chain.

FY2025 revenue surged 62.6% to RM450.9 million, with net profit reaching RM60.75 million.

The interesting part? FMCG.

Cafés build the experience. Packaged products bring those Nanyang flavours home. Now, with Singapore underway and Indonesia next, this Malaysian brand is taking its growth story regional.

From a Petaling Street fruit stall to RM143.8 MILLION in revenue.

MBG Fruits is becoming more than a fruit retailer.

In 2025, it expanded into meat, seafood, vegetables, wholesale and warehousing. A RM12 million property deposit and the new MBG Fresh Market point to something bigger: a full fresh-food platform.

Today: 38 outlets.
2024 net profit: RM5.37 million.

The next chapter has already begun.

I used to wonder why my child always chose everyone else before me.

And if I’m being real, it hurt more than I wanted to admit.

Then I read something that changed my perspective: sometimes kids act differently with the person they feel safest with.

They don’t need to wonder if you’re staying.

They already know you are.

Maybe I’m not his last choice.

Maybe I’m his safest choice.

At least, that’s what I tell myself.
