Digital Blacksmith Workshop 2026: Future of the Industry is a one-day event for artists, designers, students and creative professionals navigating a rapidly changing industry.

The creative industry is changing fast. New technologies, shifting studio landscapes, the rise of independent creators and the growing importance of IP and personal branding are changing what it means to build a sustainable career.

This workshop brings together industry professionals to share honest insights, practical Knowledge and real-world experiences on where the industry is heading and what artists need to think about next.

APU Transport Design Students Visit KLIMS 2026 by Special Invitation from R&D Perodua Manufacturing*

APU School of Media, Arts and Design (SoMAD) Transport Design students gained exclusive industry exposure at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, MITEC, following a special invitation from R&D Perodua Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd.*

Held on 16th June 2026, the industry visit allowed students to explore KLIMS’ theme * * and witness cutting-edge automotive industrial design first-hand. The invitation by Perodua’s R&D division reflects the strong industry-academia collaboration between APU and Malaysia’s leading automotive manufacturer.

*Key highlights of the visit:*
- *Industry Access*: Students received a guided experience of Perodua’s showcase, learning about local R&D processes, design philosophy, and the journey from concept sketch to production.
- *Alumni Connection*: APU lecturers, who are ex-Perodua R&D designers, facilitated the visit and shared insights on career pathways in automotive design.
- *Design in Context*: The visit connected classroom theory to real-world applications, reinforcing how industrial design drives Malaysia’s mobility sector.

Perodua also presented students with goodie bags as a gesture of support for future design talent.
