From knowledge to action! 🚀

The ReLoop Carbon Innovators completed an intensive 4-Day Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Introductory Training Course led by the experts at Mandible Agritech Sdn. Bhd. (Dr. Teo Tze Min and Dr. Charles Rodde). 🌿

Here is a look at our journey:
Day 1️⃣ : BSF Life Cycle — Learning BSF biology and environmental requirements.
Day 2️⃣ : BSF Setup — Mastering management and feeding.
Day 3️⃣ : Challenges & Data — Tackling common challenges, data collection, and measurement.
Day 4️⃣ : Harvest & Process — Harvesting, processing, and producing dried BSF larvae.

We took our virtual learning straight to the ground—building insectaries, managing feeding plans, and putting sustainable waste solutions into action! 🌱

On July 30th 2026, the ReLoop Carbon Innovators visited Pusat Pelupusan Sisa Pepejal Sanitari Bukit Gemok to understand the current situation Tawau is facing right now. 🌎

We are warmly welcomed by Boss Wira Jaya bin Jaidir, the manager of the sanitary site. Boss Wira graduated with the course of Master of Environmental Engineering. He then presented about the history of the landfill to us and how they manage the waste and the "not-so" secrets of the sanitary landfill. 💚

We gained a lot of knowledge from Boss Wira and we hope that we will find an effective and sustainable way to manage solid waste for a bright future ♻️

On 11 July 2026, we had the opportunity to invite Dr Nip Wing Kan to our school for an environmental awareness talk. 🤩

Dr Nip is the Chairman of Sabah Organic & Regenerative Farmers Association (SORFA) and he introduced us about vermicomposting, biochar and the circular economy. Through this talk, he conducted a BSF sustainability sharing session and provide practical organic waste management solutions that inspired innovative approaches to food waste reduction to us. 🌎

A million thanks to Dr. Nip for inspiring us to protect the environment and we hope this talk strengthened students' BSF knowledge and confidence to work towards a better future. 🌱

Hey everyone! This is part two of our interview with Officer Edmund Lo. 👨🏻‍💼

In this video, Officer Edmund shares his thoughts on the growing issue of food waste and what the community can do to manage it effectively. 🌿

According to Officer Edmund, food waste is a growing issue, especially during government activities and events where food is often overprepared due to overestimating attendance, resulting in large amounts of leftovers. He also explained that people who lack food waste awareness often take more food than they can finish, creating unnecessary waste. He added that night markets commonly dispose of unsold food without proper treatment. 🗑️

Officer Edmund believes that schools, organisations, and government agencies should organise awareness and educational campaigns for the public. Families can also help by planning their food purchases wisely to reduce leftovers and by learning food waste composting. ♻️

On the 1st of July, the Reloop Carbon Innovators visited the headquarters of Officer Edmund Lo, the Sri Tanjong Community Development Leader N.69 (Pemimpin Pembangunan Masyarakat N.69 Sri Tanjong). 🏢

The purpose of our visit was to interview Officer Edmund about food waste. Through his insights, we hope to expand our knowledge of food waste management and its importance to the environment. 🌳

The interview began with Officer Edmund introducing his role as Pemimpin Pembangunan Masyarakat N.69 Sri Tanjong. He explained that he is responsible for connecting the government with the local community, allowing him and his team to identify and address community needs such as welfare. They also regularly carry out development activities while working closely with government agencies to improve the community’s quality of life. 👥

Welcome to the third and final part of our visit to EcoVerm Tawau! 🪱

In our previous video, we explored the beauty of EcoVerm Tawau, including its crops and effective planting techniques. 🌱

This visit has allowed us to gain valuable knowledge about composting, so let’s hear what our team members learned throughout the tour! 🌿

Our members were fascinated by how worms are able to survive in EcoVerm Tawau, showing the team’s success in maintaining a suitable environment for them. We also learned how and when to add water to vermicompost based on climate and temperature, as well as the worms’ diet, which includes vegetables and faeces. 🌱

From another perspective, members were amazed by the worms’ behaviours as they moved in their hands. For some, it was their first time interacting with these animals, and learning about their appearance and lifecycle was a memorable experience. ✨

Through composting, we can reduce organic waste, lower carbon emissions, and produce compost that improves soil quality and crop yield in agriculture. 🪴

Once again, we would like to thank EcoVerm Tawau for this amazing opportunity to expand our knowledge about composting. We wish the best for EcoVerm Tawau and our participation in Toyota Eco Youth 2026! 💚

Hey everyone! This is part two of our visit to EcoVerm Tawau.🪱

As we said before, EcoVerm Tawau is a farm in Tawau that specializes in vermicomposting techniques. And in this video the owner of EcoVerm shows us around his farm and whatever lies within it.🌱

During the tour, the team was amazed to see different kinds of vegetables that were grown with the help of the nutirent-rich fertilizer soil produced from vermicomposting. For example. cucumbers and chili peppers as shown in the video, with some of them reaching the size of a human arm! Other than that, he also showed the team some of the various planting techniques he uses in planting his crops! 🌿

Once again, we really want to thank EcoVerm Tawau for granting us this opportunity to show us such extraordinary sights in the EcoVerm Tawau farm. We hope we can collaborate with other parties in the future to expand our knowledge and help us in our Toyota Eco Youth project! 💚
