🎹 A Quick Trip Through Keyboard History! 🕰️
I was explaining this to a student during today’s lesson and thought—why not share it here too? If you’ve ever wondered how our modern piano came to be, here’s a tiny time-travel tour through its ancestors!
✨ Clavichord
The quiet achiever of the Renaissance! Its soft, intimate sound made it perfect for personal practice and expressive playing at home.
✨ Harpsichord
The star of the Baroque era. With its bright, plucked sound and grand presence, it filled courts and concert halls long before the piano existed.
✨ Fortepiano
Invented around 1700, this was the first real “piano.” For the first time, players could control dynamics—playing both soft and loud (hence piano-forte). This innovation paved the way for the modern piano we know and love today.
