UTS successfully organised the final leg of the RoboClash Challenge 2026 at the Dewan Masyarakat Serian today.

Supported by the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Sarawak (MEITD) and organised in collaboration with our strategic partners, the state-wide robotics and hands-on skill competition drew an overwhelming response, attracting over 380 students from across Sarawak.

The official launch of the RoboClash Challenge 2026 was officiated by YB Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Sarawak. UTS expresses its highest gratitude to YB Dato Sri for his presence and continuous commitment to nurturing local talent and technological innovation.

Also present at the event were YBhg Datu Haji Adana bin Haji Jed, the Permanent Secretary of MEITD, YBrs. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Shahril Osman, the Acting Vice Chancellor of UTS and Mr Lau Wee Ming, the Head of Marketing and Student Recruitment Department (Kuching).

We were excited to meet and share with more than 100 Form 6 students about the latest programmes available at UTS, as well as the scholarships and sponsorship opportunities that can help support their higher education journey.

It feels great to be back in action after the long festive holidays, connecting with students and helping them explore their future pathways. The enthusiasm and participation shown by the students today were truly inspiring.

UTS proudly hosted the MC KUL International Scholarship Awarding Ceremony 2026 today, honouring outstanding students who have been selected as recipients of the prestigious scholarship sponsored by Mitsubishi Corporation Kuala Lumpur Branch (MC KUL). The ceremony was attended by distinguished representatives from Mitsubishi Corporation Kuala Lumpur Branch, led by Mr Kosuke Makino, Country Representative for Malaysia and General Manager, together with Mr Riki Mochida, Deputy Department Head, Administration Department, Ms Juliana
Hamzah, Deputy Department Head, Human Resource Department, and Ms Shafura Ariff, Assistant Manager, Administration Department.

Representing UTS were Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ir Dr. Mohd Shahril bin Osman, Director of Student Development & Services Centre Mr Lu Yew King, Registrar Mr Jimmy De Rozario, Bursar Dr Rabuan Mantine, and members of the
UTS Executive Management.

The scholarship presentation marked the recognition of the 4th batch of MC KUL International Scholarship recipients for the year 2026, namely Abigail Hii Beng Ching, Charles Sibat Anak Frederick Ganing, Karen Kho Yen Sing, Irene Ling Hsin Yi and Wendy Teong We Teng.

UTS has won a Special JIPA Award: “Best Invention in Green Technology” at ITEX26.
This prestigious award was won by Mr. Ting Kee Chuong, Prof Ir Ts Dr Mohammad Shahril Osman, and Mr. Ting Yi Zhi for their invention titled: “Eco-Efficient Urban Wind Turbine: The Gourd-Shaped VAWT Innovation.” Huge congratulations to the team for this outstanding achievement and contribution towards sustainable innovations.
