Ali de Speranza Famine 30 DIY camp’s Introduction
Alide Speranza is a non-profit organization in Klang, Selangor. Alide Speranza was established in the year 2010 and the founders of this organization are a group of teenagers who were at the average age of 20 years old. They wished to contribute to the society after their graduation from secondary school thus they established this organization – Ali de Speranza. The name of Ali de Speranza is Italian which means the wings of hope. World Vision Malaysia 30-Hour Famine is one of the main and annual activities of the organization and it hasentered its sixth year (2015). At year 2010, Ali de Speranza held the first 30-hour Famine DIY camp which was located at the Klang Coast Buddhist Association. The number of campers were only about 150 people. However, the number of campers has increased to approximately 350 people and maintained for the following 4 years. Ali de Speranza 30-hour Famine DIY camp moved from Klang Coast Buddhist Association to SJK(C) Pin Hwa 1 which is located at Setia Alam, Shah Alam since the third camp. The change of venue is because we wanted to offera more comfortable and larger activity space for the campers. From the first to fifth year of Ali de Speranza 30-hour Famine DIY camp, the founders are the main members of the committee board. At the same time, they recruited many teenagers to be the new committees and volunteers ceaselessly. Ali de Speranza Famine 30 DIY camp has overcame all difficulties and adhere to the fifth year of camp, thanks to the supportive main sponsorships. In the past 5 years of Ali de Speranza 30-hour Famine DIY camp, we had alsodesigned many different types of activities for our campers to have a memorable experience. In addition, we had also prepared many special performances and shows for our campers. Moreover, the committees of Ali de Speranza 30-hour Famine DIY camp had also created a lot of exciting and meaningful games and activities. Therefore, our campers did not only have fun, meanwhile they received and understood the message of “fight against hunger”. Nevertheless, the committees had invited many guest performers to encourage and motivate our campers to fight hunger together. Since the third camp, we are honouredto have the well-known Malaysian actress Chris Tong Bing Yu as the ambassador of Ali de Speranza 30-hour Famine DIY camp to fight against hunger with us. Year 2015 is the sixth year ofAli de Speranza 30-hour Famine DIY camp. The founders of the campwill step down from the committee board and the campwill be leaded by a group of young bloods who are vigour to bring the camp to another peak. The venue of sixth Ali de Speranza Famine 30 DIY camp is moving to the SJK(C) Perempuan Klang and alumni of SJK(C) Perempuan Klang will be our co-organizer. The number of campers inthis year’s camp will be increased to 500 people which is a new record for the number of campers. Even though the number of campers have increased, but we will do our bestpreserve the good standard of the camp. At the same time, the amount of donation will increase as well. All the donations will go to World Vision Malaysia to provide support to the less fortunate. On the other hand, the operating cost of our camp will increase due to the increment of the camp size. Hence, we sincerely hope that our enthusiastic sponsors can generously support a camp organized by a group of teenagers. Last but not least, another breakthrough in the year 2015 is Ali de Speranza will also hold an 8-hour FamineChildren camp in order to give the opportunity to the children to experience this meaningful camp. The target of the camp for this year is still the same, which is to convey the message to fight against hunger.
