No one announced, “Let’s work as a team.”

It just happened.

That’s the beauty of children.

Give them time, space, and a box of LEGO, and they’ll create more than just towers and cars.

They create conversations.
Friendships.
And lots of happy little moments along the way 💛

Sometimes, the best part of childhood isn’t what children build… it’s who they build it with. 🌈

The plan was simple.

Teach the children about healthy eating by letting them make their own sandwiches 🥪

But somewhere between spreading, arranging, and choosing their ingredients, something else caught our attention.

Little hands reaching out to help a friend.

Children patiently showing one another what to do.

Proud faces holding up their own DIY sandwiches, eager to share what they had made.

Yes, they learned that healthy food can be fun.

But perhaps the more important lesson was this:

The joy of doing something independently, while knowing it’s okay to help and be helped along the way 💛

Sometimes, the most beautiful learning isn’t written in the lesson plan.

It happens in the little moments we almost miss.

Because raising children isn’t just about teaching them what to eat or what to know — it’s also about nurturing kindness, confidence, and the joy of growing together 🌈

What if children are capable of more than we think? 💛

Recently, we introduced Mandarin numbers 1–5 to our nursery children.

To be honest, it was our first attempt with this group, and we weren’t quite sure what to expect.

But children have a way of surprising us.

Little by little, they began recognising the words, joining in, and participating in the games.

You could see the excitement when they recognised a word they had just learned ✨

Mandarin is not an easy language to learn. A different stroke can completely change the meaning of a word.

But every journey starts somewhere.

For us, the goal isn’t to make children master Mandarin overnight.

It’s to spark their curiosity, build their confidence, and help them discover that learning a new language can be fun.

And perhaps, that little spark today will become a lifelong interest tomorrow 🌱

The best learning doesn’t start with pressure. It starts with interest.

Our recent company retreat in Medan reminded us that we’re more than colleagues.

As our family grows from Tadika Si Cahaya to Sunshine Tots Childcare Centre, we’re excited for the next chapter ahead 🌈

Building a new centre is never just about classrooms and programmes.

One moment they were matching letters.

The next moment, they had become little animals 🐶🐰🦁😄

That’s what happened during our flash card session with our 3-year-olds.

A letter became a game.
A flash card became a conversation.
And learning became filled with giggles, animal sounds, and lots of smiles.

What we love most isn’t whether they remembered every letter that day.

It’s seeing them feel comfortable enough to laugh, participate, try, and connect with their teachers.

Because at this age, learning happens best through relationships.

When children feel safe, loved, and connected, they become more confident to explore the world around them 💛

Recently, our children learned about the life cycle of a chicken 🥚

Day after day, they would walk over to the incubator with excitement, hoping to finally see tiny little chicks hatch from the eggs.

In previous years, we were blessed to witness that joy together — yellow chicks, black chicks, little lives appearing before the children’s eyes.

But this year… none of the 5 eggs hatched.

And honestly, the children were sad.

So were we.

One child softly said,
“Maybe the chicks got sick because the weather was too hot and they didn’t drink water…”

That little sentence stayed in our hearts.

Because sometimes, childhood reminds us how deeply children feel, care, and try to make sense of life.

This experience did not end the way we hoped for.
But perhaps, it still taught something meaningful.

That life is precious.
That not everything is within our control.
And that happy moments should never be taken for granted.

Sometimes, even disappointment becomes part of learning too 🌱

Not every lesson in school comes from success or happy endings — sometimes, the deepest learning comes from experiencing life together with understanding, care, and compassion 💛
