Organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and implemented by MRANTI, the four-day expo brought together researchers, startups, corporations, investors, policymakers, and international innovation leaders under one roof.

Project Title: Integration of Deep-Learning-Based Driving Behavior Detection Module with Smart Dashcam

We are seeking a Research Assistant to join an exciting project on AI-driven systems for detecting driving behavior.
Requirements:

Background: Malaysian citizen with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
Skills: Strong knowledge in circuit design and software/hardware integration.
Tasks: Assist in circuit design, application integration, and documentation.
Salary: Net salary of approximately RM3,200/month (after deduction) for a 9-month contract. Immediate start.
Traits: Independent, meticulous, highly motivated, with strong communication skills.

We were pleased to welcome Dr. Mouloud Khelf, a researcher from the University of Constantine 1, Algeria. Alongside Dr. Khelf are researchers from the Malaysia Institute of Transport (MITRANS). During his visit, Dr. Khelf shared his research interests and expressed a strong interest in collaborating with VITAL Lab.

VITAL Lab had the opportunity to represent the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UiTM, at the 5G and OT Security Summit (5GOT) 2025. Together with our industry partner, Amtel Cellular Sdn Bhd, we showcased the integration of the iDBMS module with Lokatag Pro by Amtel. Amtel Cellular Sdn Bhd had also demonstrated its latest OTOBOT product for vehicle safety.

VITAL Lab met with a technical team led by Mr. Wei Young from Amtel Cellular Sdn. Bhd. to discuss the progress of the Industry Matching Grant Project (IMaP). This project involves the joint development of an Intelligent Behavior Monitoring System (BMS) to be integrated with Amtel Cellular's existing product lineup.

The Vehicle Intelligence and Telematics Lab (VITAL) recently hosted 12 students from Universitas Diponegoro, Indonesia for an academic visit. The visit aimed to introduce the students to intelligent vehicle systems, telematics, and AI-driven mobility solutions. The students engaged in discussions, demonstrations, and knowledge-sharing sessions with VITAL researchers.
