Forest Biotechnology Laboratory, UPM Forest Biotechnology Laboratory is one of the education yet research-based lab in the Faculty of Forestry, UPM.

The Forest Biotechnology Laboratory (FBL) of the Faculty of Forestry, Universiti Putra Malaysia, was set-up in August 2009 for education and research purposes. Research disciplines include molecular biology, genomics and tissue culture. At present, FBL is actively conducting research on Aquilaria malaccensis (karas) and its precious product, gaharu (agarwood). In addition, we are also open to any

study that uses biotechnology tools in plants, trees and wildlife of the forests. We believe through proper and innovative R&D, new findings will be discovered and can be used to improve the forestry sector in the country.

Kajang 25 Nov 2016 - Fakulti Perhutanan Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) telah menjalankan satu program khidmat masyarakat diberi nama "Planting Is Fun" di Tadika Q-dees Hillpark Kajang. Program ini telah dilaksanakan oleh 12 pelajar dari Fakulti Perhutanan UPM dibawah bimbingan Prof. Madya Dr. Rozi Mohamed. Ia bertujuan memupuk sifat sayangi pokok dalam kalangan kanak-kanak tadika dari umur 4 hingga 6 tahun. Mereka telah diberikan penerangan cara menanam pokok dengan betul dan seterusnya menanam sepuluh jenis pokok di kawasan tadika.

25Nov: FBL representating Faculty of Forestry, UPM, visited Q-dees Kindergarten Hillpark Kajang for "Planting is Fun" program. 12 members from UPM, lead by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rozi, presented a short educative drama and planted 15 trees around the Kindergarten's playground area. The planted trees are Merawan siput jantan, karas, jambu madu, meranti daun besar, lengkuas padi and gandarusa. The kids were taught to treasure the trees by planting more. The event ended well with laughters and naughty faces from our young generation.
