A term our boss mentioned during the Union BGM—referring to those of us in this profession whose working hours pull us away from the normal rhythms of society. It hit differently. Especially knowing this might be the last Union BGM he attends before bidding farewell to the job.

I remember back in Abu Dhabi, the IFATCA President spoke about the beauty of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque—how each stone was meticulously chosen and perfectly placed. Each one plays a role in creating something breathtaking. Just like us.

Today, we shared seafood and stories with fellow ATCOs and CAAM KK. We discussed the future—aviation development, the upcoming Southeast Asia Goodwill Games 2026, IATCA, ATCAS, MATCA, and PATCA. Whether KK or Kuching will host? Still undecided.

But what’s clear—today, we are enjoying the fruits of those who came before us. And at the same time, we are laying the stones for the next generation.

On behalf of the Malaysia Air Traffic Controllers’ Association (MATCA), we extend our deepest condolences to the ATC Guild India community and all those affected by the recent Air India tragedy.

We stand in solidarity with our colleagues during this time of sorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, the dedicated aviation professionals involved, and all those mourning this profound loss.

In these difficult moments, we are reminded of the shared commitment and responsibility that binds the global air traffic control fraternity.
