PVSMC- Photovoltaic System Monitoring Centre
This centre has been established since 2002 but was then called the Centre for Research in Energy Ef
ficiency and Renewable Technologies but changed its name to RISE in April, 2008. The research areas are focussed on the fundamental solar energy studies, development and applications of renewable energy in buildings, passive solar architecture, energy efficiency in buildings and environmental air quality (IAQ). Many of the research projects are funded by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI)
RISE also houses the Photovoltaic Monitoring Centre (PVSMC) which is fully-supported by the Malaysia Energy Centre or Pusat Tenaga Malaysia (PTM). PVSMC started off as a centre to monitor all PV installations in Malaysia under the Malaysian Building Integrated PV (MBiPV) project. It has also organised many accredited courses on PV design, installation, monitoring and performance analyses. To date several members of PVSMC represent the country at the International Energy Agency (IEA). The Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water also supports PVSMC by awarding funds for a national off-grid PV project. PVSMC was headed by Prof Dr Sulaiman Shaari (2008)
GERC was headed by Assoc Prof Dr Zainazlan Md Zain (2011)
GERC was headed by Prof Dr Ahmad Maliki Omar(2013)
