Malaysia’s government has announced that from the 2027 school year, parents may choose to enroll children in Year 1 at age 6 instead of the current age 7. It’s optional/voluntary, depending on the child’s readiness and parental choice, and standard diagnostics requirements previously proposed were eventually scrapped to reduce barriers.
