The last birth I was at, mama kept tightening and cringeing whenever she felt a surge... at one point she started cursing the F word and yelling. She was visibly fighting the sensations..
Her midwife and I looked at each other and gave an understanding nod. I gently suggested to her : if you yell, you'll waste energy. Why don't you try saying this instead : "I love you baby", "Thank you baby".
At first she was hesitant , but it got to a point where she couldn't lose anything by trying. Her method was clearly not working in her favour thus far.
So when the next surge came, she whispered: I love you... Thank you... ❤
Almost immediately it made a difference, and the surges became so much more visible manageable ❤
Not long after that, she birthed her baby gently in water into her husband's hands ❤💕💪🏽

Birth is the portal where all things begin - your transition to being a mother , your baby's health , your health , your relationship with you child..... and yet society reduces birth to a medical process... to be feared.
What if I told you , that you can have the most transformative experience that will leave you forever changed as a human for the better? 💗

Wishing you and your family a Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir & Batin!!
May Allah accept all our good deeds. TaqabbalAllahu minna wamin k*m salihan amal ❤
Thinking of our brothers and sisters in Gaza during this time.. May the shuhada be granted the highest jannah and everlasting freedom and dignity in the presence of The One.
May we learn from them, May we be them ❤

Hannah the wife of Imran made a du'a (supplication) for her unborn baby when she was pregnant.
This verse of the Quran is so beautiful for me , because when I found out I was pregnant for the first time, almost 18 years ago, I made a similar du'a to my Lord. I remember it was sometime in the afternoon and I was in the bathroom in our house in Melbourne staring down at a p*e stick (pregnancy test).
My first thought was - how blessed am I to be able to conceive- Ahamdulillah. And then it was : what does He want from me for this baby. So I whispered quietly, please make this baby grow into a righteous human in service of You.
It was instinctive, but also deeply guided by this verse of the Quran.
Now my first born is turning 18 years old soon... and she has been such a blessing Subhanallah. But I am definitely 100% having a tough time now. Having to let her go .. and leave her to the devices of this dark world makes me extremely anxious. We get into a lot of arguments and many times I'm worried I didn't do an adequate job bringing her up.
However I was reminded by a dear sister yesterday, to go deeper and ask: What is my lesson from this He wants me to learn?
At this season for me I think it would be to remember that He is the One that ultimately guides and protects the hearts of His servants.. and is the Ultimate Nurturer of our children.. and this stage requires me to place my Trust in Him over and above everything else.
What are you struggling with in parenting in this season of your life?

Daddies, it's very natural to want to save mummy from the "pain"... but what if you took the time to understand what her body is actually going through... you.will.be.floored.😮
So many fathers have a much greater appreciation of mummy when they learn what actually happens in birth ....how her amazing body is designed for birth and the changes it goes through - physically, hormonally , psychologically.
Never before in history did we need fathers to be so involved in the birth and child-rearing process compared to now.. and this can actually be such an amazing opportunity for Dads to experience huge self-growth too... the number of Dads who have made it their personal duty to support the Gentle natural birth cause is just amazing... Because they understand that not only can it benefit the mother , it can benefit baby and himself too.❤❤❤

Words are powerful and they create our reality.
Start asking the right questions , so you can create the right mental state that serves you !
Yes you have options... despite what everyone else says.
I know mothers who have changed doctors on the day of their Estimated Due Date because their doctor was pressuring them to be induced !
I know mothers who have flown in midwives from other countries to have a homebirth !
It's up to you to create a positive experience... no one else.

Movement is SO important during pregnancy especially in this modern day & age where alot of us are seated behind a desk or in a car alot of the day. It improves blood circulation, decreases blood pressure, increases heart health, not to mention the mental benefits! It takes a conscious effort but really one of the most important things to do while pregnant!💜
Here are some tips on what you can do during pregnancy.. my favourite is swimming! swam 20 laps right up till 38 weeks 🤣🤣.
what's your favourite??

Navigating the maternity care system can be very tricky.
We need to understand what its motivation is.
Doing your doctor shopping can take a while.... but it is the single most important decision you will make that can mean the difference between a positive birth experience or a traumatic one.
Exercise your right.. and take ownership of your decisions ! 💪🏽

Your "due date" is not an expirate date!
That's why we call it birthing season or birthing time... Any time between 37- 42 weeks gestation is completely.normal!
You'll learn why clinical practice is often different from evidence based science. We discuss the motivations of obgyns in private practice in our classes and what guides their actions.
The long and short of it is your body will not go into labour if it is not ready . period.

Different mothers respond differently to the start of labour... it's normal to feel abit anxious... but the trick is to have knowledge and be well-prepared with techniques like visualisation and breathing that can help you relax and regulate your nervous system.
What helps you to stay in control of what's going on in birth ?
don't underestimate the knowledge and preparation you do during pregnancy.
